    Hi,

Without going into the specifics of my business plan and concept I am looking for tips on finding someone with a sales and marketing (ideally with interest in retail) background to partner with.

My professional network contains fully committed salaried career employees so no joy there!

Apart from entrepreneurial groups, forums, blogs, I’m wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to find a suitable business partner?

Appreciate any thoughts and insights anyone has!

    Many thanks,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

Sounds like you’ve already thought of a few good places to look, and hopefully you’ll get some more suggestions come through.

My only thought would be that the fewer details you’re willing to give, the less likely you’ll be to grab the right person’s attention.

    Good luck!

    Dave

Another option would be to advertise your opportunity (without disclosing too much info) on business for sale websites in Australia.

Place it in the ‘business opportunity’ category and wait for the enquiries to come rolling in.

    Tread carefully!

I’m sure you can use this site to find a suitable partner but once you’ve done so and established some basic compatability, I strongly recommend the two (or more) of you engage a lawyer to produce a partnership agreement. The main point is to discuss all the ‘what ifs’ before they happen.

I had a happy business partnership for 5 years and the doc helped somewhat, but the discussions that the doc created caused were critical.

    Cheers

Thanks – certainly good advice and negotiating just such an agreement with a UK based company I’m partnering with at the moment! Hopefully we’ll be able to agree and get cracking shortly!
