I totally forgot it was Melbourne Cup day tomorrow!

Rest of the week is out for me unfortunately. I could do next Tuesday though – or if anyone is up for a coffee somewhere quieter tomorrow – like at Marion or something like that, let me know!

    Hello Fellow South Australian’s

There seems to be a little group growing here. I have heard that if you can get business off the ground in Adelaide you can do it anywhere. I am always up for a challenge :)

    My name is Danielle
    I live in Gawler
I work full time as a Employment Broker
I have also started an online directory for Adelaide based businesses

Actually I just had a thought about the networking – as it seems that trying to set this up via a forum is a bit tricky.

I have just joined a site called ‘sprouter.com’ which is like a twitter for entrepreneurs and business people. At the moment I am the only SA person on there from what I can tell. I mention this because it says it has a very good Events function. I’d love to try it out – and it would be great to have a SA presence on there. It appears to be a lot more business focussed than Twitter which is why I thought I’d give it a go.

Let me know if you are interested in joining it and a date/location for the networking and I will set the event up in there.

It would be good if the even could be towards the end of November – to give people a chance to see the event, but not too close to Christmas.

Ideas about structure of the event would be good also.

My url in there is http://www.sprouter.com/onlineiq

    Hi,

Am new to the forum and recently started importing fashion / cosmetic jewellery and small handicrafts from India. I have put a few items on gumtree:

    http://adelaide.gumtree.com.au/c-PostersOtherAds-W0QQUserIdZ14768627

We plan to sell the jewellery through our contacts, letter drops and websites.

We are also exploring a suitable name for the business. Please suggest a name for the business?

    Regards
    FM

Welcome to the forums, especially as a fellow South Australian, FM :)

I have not had any inspiration about your name I’m afraid, but I think you will find these forums a wealth of great advice and inspiration.

Are you planning to sell only via gumtree, or other websites also (e-bay?).

I think you could charge more for your products, in fact I think you will get more people buying if you put up the price…

    Ursh

    Hi Ursh,

Thanks for your feedback. We plan to sell to the shops and also via ebay.

We will review the prices after introductory offer. Any particular items / price that you think needs urgent reviewing?

    Cheers

Thanks – He is a bit of a cute monkey. I think I’ll have to give him away soon though – another story for another day though! haha

I do PHP, some Java. Not done Java in a while though.

PM me your expertise with web (PHP/CSS/AJAX/etc) dev and how you work your rates. I’m always looking for contractors for my little black book, haha.

    Cheers,
    Chris
