Hi Chris
Like all things in Adelaide the concept is taking longer to take off here than in other states. But to be fair the industry itself has only really been operating for the last 15 years or so.
If you wife is interested in being a Nanny she should contact Nanny SA as that is the business that they are in.
Cheers

My wife has always thought about doing something like that, but more like being a nanny.
May 14, 2010 at 9:21 pm #1004314Up::0Hi Eden
Yes the renovations you completed are great. I have been reading Flying Solo for ages now and have always loved it.
For everyone else….I totally recommend Eden – Hire a Hubby for all those in the Semaphore – Woodville area. He is fantastic.
Cheers

July 11, 2010 at 2:33 am #1004316Up::0hi Guys
My wife and I run a business here designing & supplying corporate merchandise that comes under the broad heading of Promotional Products. We have a main road showroom and have been going for nearly two decades which makes me sound old.We also help small business owners with their internet requirements.
South Aussies cop it a bit as I think we’re the same as other markets in Australia with the exception of Sydney where you will find more of the good, bad & ugly. The ease of getting around and the quality of produce & lifestyle in general we take for granted and is not understood by outsiders until the visit.
On the other hand South Aussies have little appreciation of how much lovely wine there is to drink outside our borders. Not that I tell them but the parochial Victorians have heaps of great wines and always enjoy poking around their wine regions when we go there [all 14 of them].

July 16, 2010 at 4:05 am #1004317Up::0G’day,
My name is Mike from Woodcroft. I am 56 and recently retired and only very recently ventured into Domaining – I currently have over 1,800 registered web domain names. I also have recently launched a few websites but I cannot tell you about the link on my site which links to other sites which can be found in my signature – apparently that is seen as purposely trying to inappropriately generate web traffic by the site moderators.
So please visit my site in my signature but do not go to any of my other sites.
I am here to learn and interact with others in small business – like all of us in small business there is a bit of the entrepreneur in us. We are also proud of having made the commitment to take that big step and stop working for the man, and proud of our achievements great or small. And we want to tell the world about our business, but that is a no no in here so one must be very careful in what you tell others about your business or you may get a slap on the wrist for “promoting” your business (I knda figured that was partly what this site is about, but maybe if you pay the fees they may turn a blind eye – thats business for you
If there are any other Domainers amongst you please respond – we may be able to do some mutually beneficial business
cheers, Mike
July 19, 2010 at 2:06 pm #1004318Up::0Hi Mike,
Thanks for joining and welcome to the forums. I just wanted to respond to your concerns you raise above.
To help ensure discussions are valuable and relevant for everyone, we have developed guidelines for the forums including promotion. These have evolved over a couple of years with lots of input from the community members. As you’ve identified, it can be a tricky balancing act to draw a line on defining self-promotion but it is a role that we take very seriously.
We recognise that developing business contacts is a valuable aspect of the community and provide opportunities for this via the introductory threads, signature links, public profiles, social networking links, groups and free business directory listings. These are free to all members. For those looking for extra promotional exposure there is a low cost directory upgrade option.
As with using any social media for business development, the approach that works well is to get involved, share your expertise and add value to the community – people will then look to you when they need help.
If you have further questions or feedback on the guidelines please let me know as we are here to help the very best we can. We are always looking for ideas to help Australia’s micro business owners.

Hi Stephen,
Just a quick note to apologise that you’re post was delayed in being published. One of the words it contains is on our ‘banned words list’ (which helps keep out the dreaded spammers), and somehow I didn’t notice that it was waiting to be approved. I’m so sorry, and I hope you find some locals to network with!Cheers,
JayneAugust 11, 2010 at 10:22 pm #1004322Up::0I’ve been here is SA for 99% of my life and have just bought a Snack Bar in Adelaide.
Are there many others here that own physical businesses, or is the standard online stuff? I don’t have time to read through all 9 pages. Maybe we need a separate thread with just meetings, that is also edited to only show the valid ones.

Up::0Hello fellow Adelaide “peeps”,
Nice to see a thread on here specifically for Adelaide-ians like us.
So I thought I’d quickly introduce myself on this thread, since others here have done the same.
Well, my name is Adam Wozniak, and I currently run my own web design business at http://www.wecancreate.com
I also run a small business blog at http://www.wecancreate.com/blog where I share business tips and tutorials (my most popular articles are about setting up business structures).
In my spare time, I write about self-development and unconventional thinking-type topics at my personal blog at http://www.adamwozniak.com/blog
So yeah – that’s me. I’m looking forward to monitoring this thread over time and seeing whether we can get a few more members from Adelaide on here.
October 7, 2010 at 12:07 am #1004325Up::0Hi all,
While I’m not technically a South Aussie (I’m originally from WA), or an Adelaide-ian (I’m in gorgeous Strathalbyn), I’m here to stay, so it would be great to get to know some of the locals.
In particular I’d be interested in collaborating with any creatives (graphic designers, advertising agencies, web designers, etc.) out there who outsource copy to copywriters (like me!), or local business owners who feel they could use some help sharpening their promotional material.
And I’m sure at some stage in the future, we could all meet up for a local wine tour..! : )
Cheers,
Anna

I am married with a nearly 2 year old son. I’m starting my own Bookkeeping & Secretarial services business (seems like their are so many of us on here) so that i can work but still be at home with my little one.
This SA thread doesn’t get many posts!
