Hi All,
Just found this forum and website and thought I’d write in!
My names David and I run DP Computing. We provide onsite computer support across Adelaide. We deal with SMB’s that have no inhouse IT support and provide services such as troubleshooting, network, consulting for servers and desktops.
We also provide locally based IT support for interstate and overseas companies with offices in South Australia.
Cheers

Computer and IT ConsultantsOctober 17, 2010 at 1:30 pm #1004329Up::0Hi All you local networkers in SA, don’t you just love Adelaide? Yes I’m an Adelaidian of more years than I care to remember.
Just joined flying Solo last week, very interested to meet other networkers and find out how we can help each other.
I’m launching a personal development business which assists people to overcome life’s little problems and allows them to get on with what they do best. Based at Mawson Lakes and willing to consider any reasonable “challenge”-telephones are a marvellous technology don’t you think?
I’m interesed in feed back on my website to the technically minded professionals, if I can call you that?

I’m actually from Melbourne, but you might be interested in the following quote to a local member. I understand the difficulties in getting sufficient local interest and ‘talent’, so this may help provide a solution.
Given the URL’s you mention, you might also be intereste in having a look at http://www.villagemedia.com.au and the concept outlined at http://www.morningtonplumber.quoteplease.com.au/
Let me know if I can help.
Cheers

villagemedia, post: 0 wrote:Hi Kirsty,I understand your difficulty in getting the “right” people mix in your area. I have had some years experience in organising webinars and Skype conferences, I suggest you consider beginning with Skype “Group Call” as many don’t have the web-cam gear or are video-shy. The obvious advantage of using Skype is that you are not restricted to one area to find like-minded people (for example, I lived in Balwyn and currently on the Mornington Peninsula).
You may also need to explain how to get a Skype address, as not everyone is Skype-savy.
Here’s my tip: Start with a core group of three or four people and build up to a maximum of 10. Get your guidelines in place and have a few meetings. This will help to solidify the group and work out any kinks.
Next, decide if video is appropriate (keep in mind it gobbles-up bandwidth) and take a vote on when it’s time to add more people. If yes, how many? Don’t add too many all at once. I’d rather see you add only one or two new people at a time. This will help them to assimilate into the group and for the group to become cohesive. As the Facilitator, you want to help people to fit in and feel welcome, and not allow cliques to form among the “old members” versus the “new members.” It’s all about inclusiveness.
Keep repeating the addition of new members until everyone agrees the group is full. If someone drops out of the group, take a vote to see if the group should replace that person or simply stay the smaller size.
As there seems to be a number of people interest in the MasterMind concept, have created a new group at http://www.flyingsolo.com.au/forums/groups/marketing-mastermind-group.html and would welcome your contributon. You may care to pass this link on to others who may be interested – or let me know if I can help in your quest…
Cheers,
Alan
