    Dear all,
    a week or so back, Costco was ordered to pay several million dollars in “Punitive damages” for using a trademark illegally. The precedent is likely to be used by other rights owners, (including us in a likely upcoming case involving a company of similar size and dynamic) even though it is a case from the USA.

    Costco Now Has to Pay $8.25 Million in Punitive Damages for Selling Fake Tiffany Rings
    A New York civil jury on Wednesday ordered Costco Warehouse to pay Tiffany & Co $8.25 million in punitive damages for selling engagement rings with the “Tiffany” name on them just days after the bulk retailer was ordered to pay $5.5 million in compensatory damages.
    Tiffany had sued Costco accusing its rival of selling inferior imitation rings.
