    Hi there,

    Welcome to Flying Solo!

Are you looking for unusual ways to market your business? If so, what kind of business are you in?

Asking people if they need your service is a surprisingly rare but effective method. I bet there are countless businesses who need customers but didn’t ask that question once today. :)

    I sold real estate once.

Was given some listings from an agent that left, and decided to revamp the advertising.

I can’t believe that these listings are still online… :)

“For the fractional fee of just $189,000, you can finally afford to flex your financial flamboyance and flip the feeling from frustrated to free – free from the GFC fiscal fiend; and free to feel good again.”

Yes, that’s my alliteration at work. :) It sold in 2 weeks.

    Here’s some others:

    All sold.

Marketing works – but out of the box weirdo stuff works better IMHO
    :)

    My 2c.

    Cheers
    Brad

Lee Nelson has proven to do some effective marketing lately. Got the world talking about him when he threw money at Sepp Blatter during a FIFA press conference. I suppose that was unusual (and should rightly stay so) but also extremely effective.

Probably worked perfectly for his product-market fit too.

I know a guy who has built up a business by selling condoms online via email marketing.

And a girl who also very effectively sells cleaning stuff for your home also by using email marketing. It is crazy what she can sell from her personal emails on products that I myself would never have thought of selling that way.

The strangest method I’ve ever seen is Ling’s Cars in the UK. So much publicity (and backlinks) around the site due to it being “the worst thing on the internet”.

Heavy rock band KISS. They famously never showed their faces, always donning the familiar masks. So they ran a competition for one lucky fan to win a photograph of them all unmasked. They created a photo that would fade within a few minutes before it was shown other people. Genius. They say timing is important in business. If it were done today, it would be all over social medial in seconds.
