Hey guys……. was just told by my bank that they couldn’t connect a “debit card” to my business bank account, but they could connect a “credit card”. I said no thanks lol……. my bank is St. George.
I was also told by my sister that she got told the same thing by her bank (NAB).
Is this a common thing with all banks or are there any that can do this!?
Thanks!
April 11, 2012 at 6:46 am #1099946Up::0That seems a little unusual! I would have thought every bank account these days could have a debit card attached?
My business accounts are with Bendigo Bank – and, I have a debit card attached – there was no question about it. I do pay a $3 per month ‘debit card’ fee though.

I’m sure they could do it, I’m just thinking being a business they want to get them using a credit card.

April 11, 2012 at 3:00 pm #1099954Up::0Well apparently my sister asked about them a couple of years ago, so I guess they must of added the option between then and now.

Hi
Seems strange they can link to one but not the other.
One reason banks will sometimes not link an account to a card is because the account requires more than one signatory to operate it. If this is not the case with your account I suggest that you contact the St George internet banking people who should be able to sort it out.

April 15, 2012 at 7:45 am #1099958Up::0Hi, I am having the same issue. I looked around when I was opening my business account in Jan…and decided to go with NAB. However, I never even thought about checking I could have a debit card, as I assumed it was a given. When one didn’t arrive in the mail, I phoned up and they said they can’t issue them for business accounts. When I told them I would close my account then (as I now know for a fact that Bankwest will give me one) they said they are currently in negotiations with visa and mastercard, and should be launching debit cards for business accounts in the next couple of weeks. Three months later, and they still can’t give me a debit card.
I am planning on going in to see the business adviser in my local branch this week, as it’s crazy. I have to keep moving money between accounts just to pay for things, and it’s so messy.
I was offered a credit card also, but how crazy is that – they will give a new business a credit card, but not a debit card? Seems like risky lending to me!
Not sure this helps anyone, but would be interested to hear if anyone else has a debit card on a business account with NAB?
Thanks
Helen
