I’ve been working in Mailchimp creating a drag & drop campaign for a client, but for some reason I can no longer ‘drag & drop’, move or delete items, or access the ‘layout, design or comments’ tabs while on my PC (I can do this on my iPad, but can’t access my images – and the space is really difficult to work in).
I’ve been in touch with Mailchimp support who suggested it could be 3 things:
- A browser extension – which we ruled out by using multiple browsers in standard and ‘incognito/private’ modes.
- Anti-virus software or a firewall issue – I temporarily disabled both and repeated the browser tests, to no avail.
- A network connection issue – they gave me a link to test my network speed and all seemed hunky dory. Just to be on the safe side, however, I set up my mobile connection on my desktop, but it fared no better.
I had issues a few weeks back when I initially tried to set up the campaign, but came back a few days later and it worked fine. Clearly there is something going on with my PC which I haven’t been able to figure out.
Any ideas or suggestions anyone can make would be very gratefully accepted.
Thanks in advance,

Difficult to answer without knowing a lot more details but I will make the following comment based on the assumption that you are using Internet Explorer on your PC. Go to Firefox.com & download & install the Open Source Firefox browser. Then use this browser to access mailchimp. I presume that you are using Safari on the ipad. This means that it is likely to be something in the IE configuration.
Cheers

Thanks for the suggestion anyway
July 12, 2013 at 5:31 am #1145418Up::0Try disabling your firewall and antivirus then give it a go.
If that didnt do anything reactivate them, if it does you need to tweak.Steve

Hi Steve, yep – tried that already. Didn’t make any difference. I kinda hoped it would, but that’s why I’m baffled as to what the problem might be.
Thanks anyway
PS – currently running a full-system scan to see if there are any viruses causing issues. If that comes up blank, I really don’t know what to try next.

Without much prior knowledge of the specific interface or your connection setup, is your iPad running via the same internet connection?
There’s a small chance that your ISP could be blocking specific actions (These are usually more to do solely with sending out email, not interacting with websites)

I do use a different connection for my iPad, but not sure why – if it is a network issue – it started in the first place, or how to resolve it.
I did try to use the SIM from my iPad on the PC to see if the change of network made any difference, but it was SOOOOO slow that I couldn’t even get the page to load (the joys of regional reception).
Thanks for your thoughts though… not sure if what I’ve told you helps.
UPDATE: SIM from iPad is working at a reasonable speed today, but even after trying 2 different browsers, I’m still having the same issue, so I guess it’s not the network. Really not sure what to do – AAAARRRGGHH!!!!!
July 15, 2013 at 1:52 am #1145422Up::0My guess is that it’s coming from application cache, which will affect all of your browsers so switching browsers wouldn’t fix it. The specific framework they’ve used for their drag/drop interface would cache itself locally to speed up loading/performance but if it’s become corrupted any application/browser that tries to access it will get the corrupted version.
You’ll probably need to do a full cache clear to correct the problem. I would suggest:
- Reboot machine
- Clear all cache/storage
- Restart browser
- Check website again

Will try that and see how I go. Thank you!
UPDATE: no change
Looked at doing a system restore, but my system backs up each day, so I have nothing available prior to the problem starting.
Also haven’t been able to detect any viruses.
July 16, 2013 at 2:51 am #1145424Up::0Try installing the browser Opera.
http://www.opera.com/If that doesn’t work, then you’ve totally got me stumped without having a proper look!

Yep.. been there. Done that. No good.

Add a new windows user, delete if fail.At this stage, Steve, I think drastic is about all I have left! And it’s an interesting idea, so I’ll give it a go and see what happens.
Thanks
UPDATE: OK, well happy times – that seemed to work. So, next question is why?
I’m pretty useless when it comes to this kind of thing, but clearly there’s a conflict with something somewhere, so I guess it’s a matter of trying to find it.
*sigh*
But at least I can log in as another user if I have to. Thanks Steve.
July 16, 2013 at 7:57 am #1145427Up::0Just thought, it could be a flash issue if their using a flash based uploader.
Have you tried uninstalling / reinstalling flash player?

I haven’t, but I’ve just tried logging in again and since setting up the other user account and then logging back in as myself, it seems to be working again.
Weird!! (but I ain’t gonna question it!)
