    Hi there,

I need to find an Australian website host for my online business.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks so much

    Hello,

You need to be more specific about what you need.

Do you already have a site and want to host it somewhere?

Do you want to move from one host to another?

If you have a website what is it built in and provide the URL?

    Are you building a site?

Do you want someone to build it for you?

If you are starting from scratch then some information about what you want would be helpful in getting better quality answers. Information like:

    What do you sell?
    Where are you based?
    What is the target market?
How many products will you have?
    Average product value?
    Expected average order value?
Sell in Australian dollars or multiple currencies?
    Multiple languages?
Sell only via the store or also via eBay or other portals?
Any design requirements or example sites you like?
Anything else on your wish list?

The more information the better result you will get.

    All the best

    John

    Thanks for your reply.

I’m creating the website through opencart and we have a web developer to make small changes to the template we’ll pick if need be. So we just need to find somewhere to host the website. We’ve also got our domain.

    Thanks :)

Did you look at – http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=partner/partner

Try asking that question at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/116 or http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/63. Make sure that you specify the technology you are using and also the expected size. If you have a budget maximum let them know.

Digital Ocean are best servers we’ve found in a long time and they have SSD’s!

You need some knowledge of server administration and they don’t do Windows but they have been great for us. They have hosting all around the world and their closest one is Singapore.

If you REALLY need an Australian host try Quadra Hosting. Great value for money

    Adrian

We’re using NetVirtue. They’re very stable and their customer service is super fast and helpful. Highly recommended.

    Hi Bubbles,

I’ll drop a shameless self-plug here; we can give you a hand with hosting OpenCart if you’re still looking for someone local!

Feel free to shoot us an email if you’d like a quote or have any questions.

Personally I’ve always found great deals and service from overseas hosts.

Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking you must host in Australia for Au websites, it simply is not true. I’ve been there a hundred or more times and got all the t-shirts too.

As long as the site loads quickly it makes no difference to your SEO or other success!

    Hi John,

I’d like to ask some of the questions that you thought Bubbles23 might have been asking, which need the above info you have specified (starting from scratch). Is this an ok place to put it or should I ask it in my own thread (so as not to hijack this one)?

    Thanks,
    Polly

The majority of hosting companies in this country are horrible.

There is no benefit to hosting here.

    Personally I recommend Liquidweb.
