    Hi everyone

Currently im in a progress of building small online store which would sell guitar picks. The main target market is US so im choosing .com domain

I am trying to come up with a decent domain name. However since English is not my first language i find it difficult to come up with a catchy original name. I dont know how it sounds to a native English speaker.

So far i came up with two names:

Plectre.com (plectre= guitar pick in france)
Pickas.com (just added “as” to a pick)

Are any of the above sound decent? Catchy?
Thank you in advance for your opinion.

    Regards

Hi there, and congratulations on your business venture. Speaking as both a long term Guitar player, and a native English speaker those two names will not really do it – neither of them conjure up ‘Guitar pick’ to me. You need something that immediately suggests its subject :koolpiks.com

I am not saying my ideas are brilliant, but they immediately say to the visitor-this is about guitars and picks-contact me for some ideas.
    Cheers
    Michael

It’s always such a challenge the search for a great .com that’s not taken :)

A couple that spring to mind…

GuitarPickPlace.com – pretty straight down the line

Pickeresting.com – a play on interesting and picks

Others may be able to throw in some options

    Have fun!

Are you manufacturing the product yourself (ie. creating a brand) or just reselling branded products?

Any particular niche or unique selling points?

You can often find words to sit alongside your keyword by thinking more about the USPs and features.

Otherwise if you’re building a brand you don’t necessarily need to include the keywords.

I had one idea that might appeal to angry musicians: pickhead.com

It seems like a good idea to ask a few guitar players what name they would intuitively associate with guitar picks. You might also get some insider language there.

Thank you for your great insight :)

    Few details i didnt mention:
The picks are made by me and they are personalised.

Hence i am looking for something that i could build my identity and branding around it.

Generally speaking i was curious how for example “pickas” sound to native speaker ear. The main thing im looking for is for it being catchy

Again thank you for your insight!

I might have a slightly dirty mind, but it sounds like “pick ass” to me. />_>” title=”>_>” class=”bbcode_smiley” /></div>
