I’m about to do it, after months of indecision and procrastination I’m about to start the process of closing up shop and moving on. I’m recovering from a virus last week, one that was still lingering when I started doing housework and I think it’s stuffed my back up. It’s not the illness talking but I am sick of having back problems, I’m sick of so many boxes of books around the place and I’m not really enjoying buying any more. I’m not selling enough to make it worth anyone’s while.

I took advantage of time sitting in the dental chair this morning while the injection worked and wrote my ‘farewell’ for my blog. I’m still planning on writing, doing competitions and basically making mayhem. I am hoping to get a part time job outside the house but at my age with very little experience in the past ten years that could be challenging.

One segment of my stock I don’t want to offload to the op shop are my part work magazines. They’re a fairly specialist area and I don’t think there’s anyone else in Australia with the amount of stock I have and the contacts. If you or someone you know wants to take this area on as a hobby have them contact me and we’ll talk.

Sad to hear you’re closing up, but how exciting to think of all the future possibilities!!

You just don’t know what’s around the corner…

    Oooh, a corner!

    Thanks, Wendy and Steve.

Now to find a nonsuitable platitude just because I can! Thanks! :)

You know, I like the smileys here, they’re readable to someone like me who can’t read the little things people put in sentences.

Sorry to hear that, but sometimes the tough decisions turn out to be the best ones – and I’m sure in a few months you’ll look back and say “So glad I closed down because I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to [insert amazing thing here]”

    :)

Thanks Bridie. I just wish I could get rid of everything this week, it’d be lovely to reduce the clutter. So over having the boxes of books around.

    Hi Suz,

That’s a brave move, and good on you for making such a hard decision. But if you feel that your health is suffering, and your heart isn’t in it any more either, then I’m sure it’s a relief to finally have a firm plan in place. :)

I’m a firm believer that you need to close doors in order for others to open, and I’m excited to learn what comes next for you. :)

And here’s an extra smiley, just because I know you like them :)

    Sorry to hear about this.

That being said, it sounds like you have lost your passion… so am hopeful you will find something soon that floats your boat even more.

Best of luck with the close down

Thank you Jayne and Leah. Yep, you’re so right I’ve lost my passion for it but discovered a passion for writing.

Thank you for the extra smileys, I can read these ones. I have so much trouble with the text based emoticons.

Good move right there, at least you’re looking forward to a better transition.

Wish you the best of luck!

I’ve started the process of getting rid of my books. I’m minus eight boxes and what’s really sad is you can’t actually see a dent. I took a couple of boxes to a friend yesterday to see what she wants, she’s going to sell to her housemates and family for me, she asked me if I found getting rid of them hard emotionally and I surprised her by saying ‘no’, it actually feels really good.

I suspect I might have to keep the part-work magazines and continue to try and sell them as I’m finding it challenging to find someone interested. I could send them to the Brotherhood but I suspect someone will see them as junk mags and just pulp them, couldn’t bear see that happen.

I’m so glad to hear that the process feels okay Suzy. That must be a nice reinforcement for you that you’ve made the right decision, I reckon :)

I hope it all continues to go well, and that you feel more relieved by the day.

    Best of luck with it,
    Jayne

Thanks, Jayne. It’s nice to see tidyness instead of boxes.
