    Hi Everyone,

There seem to be a number of added costs involved when going down the Ex-Works path as an importer. I am looking to import a range of beauty products.

Is it Flying Soloists experience that European suppliers are generally pushing for Ex-Works??

    Cheers,

    Sandra

    Hi Sandra,

To me it makes sence that the supplier / manufacturer wants as little involvement with the international transport of goods as possible. EXW provides that peace of mind. They make the goods and have them ready for pickup in the dispatch area.

Many manufacturers are happy to ship nationally but dont want to get involved with the complexities of international shipping. They leave that for the freght specialists.
If they do get involved they build it into their pricing anyway.

Thanks Steve. As an import newbie I want to be making sure I’m following accepted practice and not taking on added costs that directly impact my bottom line needlessly. It sounds like perhaps pushing for FOB is not so important as you point out with the limitations of the supplier.

    Cheers,

    Sandra
