    Hi there,

I was wondering if the Facebook Fanpage concept actually works for any of you and if so, how? Do you actually gain direct sales from it or is it more of a good place for you to socialise on-line with your clients and would-be’s?

I have to admit that I do actually enjoy posting items of possible interest for others to see but it is definitely quieter than I hope for. Here’s my link to my page, so critique away if need be, ha… but I’d love to see you there if if interests you!

    Hi

I have two FB pages :

    http://www.facebook.com/HugaliciousRagdolls
    http://www.facebook.com/BeautifulWeddingTips

I socialise with other Ragdoll Cat owners, and my kitten buyers on the Hugalicious one, and the Wedding one is mostly networking and socialising also.

    cheers

    Hi Angela,

Thanks for your reply….ahh can’t believe you’re involved with Ragdolls – I had two of them too! So beautiful aren’t they.
I’ll check out your sites, thanks – and I will pass on the wedding one to two existing fans of mine that are both getting married here over the next two years!
    :-)
So at least I know FB works for things like this, ha!

    wow, another Raggie owner :)

I have started breeding Ragdolls, and tonight I sold the last kitten of our first-ever litter.
I am showing them at the Gold Coast this Saturday, they are all show quality and I hope they will do well.
Thanks for referring my Wedding site to your friends, I hope they find it useful :)

    cheers
    Angela

Brill! Hope they come over to you because they are getting really excited over their individual weddings, which aren’t actually until the end of 2012 and 2013!
Hope your beautiful cats win on Saturday… meow

    Hi Gingercake,

I have just set up a facebook page:

    http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/For-Owner-Builders/122527887807008

I am a building Designer and draftsman, and have alot of owner builder clients, hence the -for owner builders.

I am looking at this as a way to keep my clients upto date with information and to keep my business fresh in their mind as apposed to looking for new clients – This would be a bonus.

Most of my work comes from referrals and I have to do very little advertising. So this page may indirectly result in new work.

Another point that may interest you – my sister is a fan of a vintage clothing site that sends out a post when they have items they are disounting. They have huge success with this and seem to use it to sell alot of items. (I will recomend my sister like your page)

All the best with your page

    Nathan

    Hi Nathan,

You’re having great success – bravo! Thanks for the info and advice. I try to keep my FB page interesting with frequent varying posts but it seems to attract people that like or are interested, rather than buyers unfortunately…so not sure what my next step is. I was considering doing a fortnightly giveaway but it’s knowing WHERE to promote that in the first place, ha.

Thanks, I will pop along to your page too :-)

Debra, I’ve had much the same experience as you, people liking my page (but not that many) but am finding it hard to get any sort of interaction.

We manufacture wrought iron and heritage style farm and residential gates and sell retail nationally (custom made so it’s all direct). As the items are so large and high dollar items it’s hard to really work on any ‘specials’ to attract people. We’re working on product development with smaller items in the pipeline so maybe these will be more of an incentive down the track.

I also find it hard to post regularly, there’s only so much one can say about ‘gates’ and ‘garden products’ or maybe I’m just lacking imagination. The page is http://www.facebook.com/farmweld So in all my experience hasn’t been mind blowing and I do wonder about the benefits myself.

I am not a fan of sites like facebook, but decided to try a business one.
I must be doing something wrong in the sign up – all boxes filled, but I keep getting a ‘needs state & postcode’ type message (don’t remember exact wording). That suggested it is intended for US states only – how to get around this?

My wife used an online FB page run by some else to sell some old baby stuff we had (sort of like ebay) but without any of the hassle of ebay and it was all done and dusted in a couple of hours. I dont know how the hosting FB page mae money from the transactions but the point being that people do look to facebook as a place to buy and sell and it worked great for us.

I have been to your pages here and theu looked fine to me. have ‘liked’ you all…:D

I have two Facebook business pages:
    http://www.facebook.com/sheinspires.com.au
    http://www.facebook.com/creativelybelledesigns

And have been learning a heap with them this year.

    In a nutshell:
    * social media gives you the chance to start earlier in the sales cycle – getting to know your customers, their interests and getting your name out there.

    * It’s one part promotion, one part sharing and one part conversation

    * if responses are low, try something different – look at those who are doing well with it and learn

    * content is really important – stories, competitions, questions, photos, links, sharing stories and blog posts

    * update regularly – be consistent

    * get involved in shout outs and be friendly

I’ve been interviewing women making a success on facebook this year and learning from them. Their stories, tips and ideas are at: http://www.sheinspires.com.au/social-media-tips

For me, Facebook has really reflected the effort I’ve put in – I’ve increased my readership, newsletter subscribers and advertisers and I’ve grown it consistently. It hasn’t been an over night success but I haven’t paid for that either. I have free marketing that is enjoyable and easy. I spent about 10 – 30 minutes a day on average on it. It’s the consistency that matters.

You might find an online assistant is what you need – the right virtual assistant maybe?

    Good luck!

I believe nothing is as effective as a well designed and optimised website. I’ve found however, that Facebook has acted as a portal point for driving traffic to our site so has been a worthwhile endeavour.

    Cheers!

    Hello

I’ve got three facebook business pages. I’ve found though, that while it’s nice to have support from other businesses who like your pages, that you actually need a little more. I ended up writing a blog post on the topic, that you might find useful to help you turn those connections into business.

Here’s a link to “Add value to liking Facebook business pages”. http://bit.ly/qitvSy

    Cheers
