    Hi everyone

Recently my wife was laid of work. She is a very experienced administrator and does help me with all my paperwork, quotes, customer etc.

I run a glass replacement/security screen business with enough work to keep afloat but I am worried not enough to employ my wife on a part time basis. Is there Govt funding available to small business to employ someone, or is there other means of employing her ?

Or is it a matter of seeking out more work??

    Regards
    Gary

    Hi Gary,

It might be that with your wife doing the admin you will be able to generate more work and grow the business. You will certainly be freed up from all the admin work.

Hi Gary Divert to Mobile is right analyse your marketing strategies and get more profitable work, look at contract work, explore all options.
When I consulted to an employment agency a few years back there was specific criteria for gov’t subsidies for stream 4 job seekers, return to work parents and disability subsidies for job seekers. From memory a job seeker had to be out of work for at least 12 months – stream 1. Stream 4 had the highest subsidy as the person was considered highly disadvantaged and unemployed for 4 yrs. So your wife doesn’t qualify. You could look at a trainee subsidy if she doesn’t have I think a CERT IV.
Another option is to go to the government website and look at the criteria for small business grants.
The best and easiest way is to grow your business.
    Hope this helps.
