I have created a facebook page for my business.

I have added the profile picture of the business logo.

But when I make update/entries it only shows the middle part of the logo – so it looks stupid.

How do I have a picture showing on the updates/entries that is different from the profile picture? I have added a more appropriate size picture to my album.

Does anyone know? Haven’t been able to get an answer from Facebook.

    Thanks

    Tracy

    Hi Tracy,

We have the same issue with our facebook page logo and I also tried to fix it, with no success. But from what I have seen over the last few months, lots of other pages seem to show the mid part of their logo only when they post on their own or other pages.

So we are not alone and I do not think there is a solution to this, so have to live with it, unfortunately.

As far as I know it’s just the way Facebook has designed it to work.

You have to be clever with how you layout your logo to take this into account

Click Profile Picture and then Edit Thumbnail. You can then select which part of your logo you want to display.

Here is a link that gives a bit more info about it.

    Hey Dave,

Thanks for the tip – I have just tried it and it’s great. Will have another look into this later but for not I am happy.

    Thanks again :)

    Thanks Dave

    Will give it a try.

I have had a look at lots of the big retailers facebook page and some of them have a different picture for every entry? So it seems to be able to be done.

You would think with all of facebook’s money and developers they would be able to get something so basic done :)

I didn’t run across the thumbnail selection option for quite a while either. It took Paul from Integr8 to point it out to me.

However, I took the approach of simply designing my banner with Facebook’s default cropping in mind:

Just the device part of the banner shows up in my stream.

    Hi Tracy,
Can you give me an example to look at?

    Dave.

    Kel,
That looks like a very cunning trick is that image on the left the actual size of the largest size that will display there? If you know what I mean.

I believe so – it’d be incredibly unlike me not to use every possible pixel!
