Someone mentioned in another thread that shoutouts are a good way to improve connections and ‘likes’ on their pages. I noticed that when people post ‘shoutouts’ the name/link to these other pages comes up in blue. I was told to put an @ sign before the name, however when I did this recently in a post it didnt’ work at all. Can anyone enlighten me as FB’s help is useless.

you need to have ‘liked’ the page first

bit off topic, i have added a facebook share ‘banner’ to my testimonials page.
http://www.craiglongmuir.com/web-designer-testimonials.php i was able to custom design this banner for the share but unfortunately it is not possible to do the same for the like button (as far as i am aware) or to even modify the like button so it does not show the count…i keep seeing like buttons with 0/1/2/3 person likes this…looks very sad!!

ps. feel free to share my site!! :)

Hi Flower-Child, I have liked the pages and wanted to put a shout out to them all from my page. I notice that other people do this and the names of the business pages they’re shouting out to are in blue like they’re hyperlinked. I wanted to know how to do this.

Check out the fb page of Mari Smith, she’s somewhat of a fb guru. She will respond to a question posted on her wall

    Hope that helps!

Thanks Wendy. I found exactly what I needed in one of her blog posts. I also learnt why my @ tag didn’t work “tags do not work in comments, only the original post”. She has a really interesting blurb about it http://www.marismith.com/facebook-tagging-etiquette-guide-for-personal-business-use/ which explains it in great detail.
