Thanks for dropping by
I am seeking some validation/ challenge on an online wholesale startup that I have been trying to get off the ground for a while.
The business would be for the online wholesale of Australian made/ Made in Australia products sourced from local SMEs, distributors and selling to Australian retailers. Products would be all sorts as long as they are australian made.
I run another technology startup with a couple of co-founders and that is going well. However, I have had this idea of running an online wholesale business specifically for Australian products for a while now and was thinking of giving this a solid attempt.
There are a few questions that I would really like to get others’ insights on:
1. Do you think that this concept has merit?
2. Based on a bit of research I have done, retailers are turning more online to source their stock. I will be keen to hear from SMEs here on the challenges they currently face to source stock/ supplies for their stores.
3. Also be keen to hear from SMEs on challenges they face to place their products on the local market.
Anything else that you guys think will add value is lways welcome – good or bad
Thank you heaps,

It is great to have you!
Thank you for joining our community and posting.
For validation, I always recommend THIS BOOK
I feel a niche always has merit to examining. For example, if there is a specific demand for Aussie goods from a specific country, it is easier to get traction than by creating a general marketplace.

In short. You need to validate that people care/want Australian made and then uncover how they want it. Good luck and great idea!May 12, 2020 at 4:32 am #1223099
Thank you Georgia. I just read your article. Just going through the book that Paul recommended and a few others while doing the market research, I have identified new challenges. The plan is going to be a long iterative one with key validation milestones before I progress.
