    Hey guys,

I was wondering how everyone finds local blogs for their city. I have tried searching for ‘Sydney blogs’ and so on, but i never seem to stumble upon anything really relevant or popular.

Are there any tips or tricks you guys use?

Why don’t you search under the topic you are interested in? Then see if they are local or not.

What are you looking for? And why?

    Hi Cleaner Guy,
Google used to offer a special search function for “blog only” results but dropped it because not enough people used this search option.

If you search for “Sydney blogs” you are providing insufficient info for Google to provide you with relevant results. Any web page that includes the words “Sydney” and “blog” is returned in the search results which is why you see around 100 mill. pages in the search results.

You need to fine-tune your search phrase to add more words so G can return results that are more relevant to you.

The real issue is, as Jenny has already asked, “What are you looking for? And why?”

Are you looking to promote your website or service? If so, I suggest you pose a new thread around this question.

I agree, what is the purpose for doing so?

Are you looking for guest blogging opportunities on relevate websites?

    Use Google search operators:

    intitle: sydney blog
    inurl: sydney blog

    Hi Cleaner Guy,
So, it is not blog sites you want, it is places where you can promote your service with an incentive offer to potential clients.

Start with defining your potential clients and your services.

    • Are they commercial or residential?
    • If commercial, “commercial” is too broad a category. Break it into segments that are relevant to you.
    • Where can you service customers? Eg Can you service customers Sydney-wide or do you have tighter geographic parameters?

Look for existing communication channels relevant to your different target customer groups that you can tap into. You don’t need to worry about whether they use off or online comms.

Are there associations, organistations, etc. that you can approach with a view to them distributing your offer in their newsletters, emails, website, social media? You may find a few phone calls to relevant assocs. or orgs. is far more profitable than throwing an offer onto a “blog” page of unknown relevance or potential.

Then there are places like this: http://www.flyingsolo.com.au/deals. Is this relevant?

    Good luck.
