    Hi Guys,
I am looking at purchasing a food trailer from a chinese manufacturer for my food business and am totally confused on import and freight, I have received a couple of quotes from customs brokers which seem excessive, in fact they are equal to the cost of the trailer effectively doubling the price.

Can any one offer advice and tell me if I need a broker or if I can do it myself?

Whatever you choose to do, someone will need to manage the local part when the goods arrive here, ie organise GST, Import Duties, Clearance Fees, freight to your location. A broker may also be able to price the actual freight from China to AU for you. It might be cheaper to do it with local broker rather than your supplier doing it for you.
