As part of the focus for my online women’s magazine this year I’m telling the stories and ideas of small business owners and this is turning out to be great free PR for them as the stories include links to their pages.

We’ve had success with our interview stories with small business owners so I’m opening it up – no longer is it coming down to me picking the small businesses to be featured.

Now the initiative is open to other small business owners with our interview stories.

If you’re interested here’s the link:

    http://www.sheinspires.com.au/interview/she-inspires-interview-story

As these interview stories are working really well for all involved we’re going to be doing a series of them and would love for our fellow Flying Soloists friends to benefit from it too – so just check regularly to see what the question is and if you want to be involved.

It isn’t automatic inclusion but it is open for the benefit of small businesses.

Here are two examples of this type of story with links to websites, blogs, Facebook and Twitter (as provided by the contributing business owner):
    http://www.sheinspires.com.au/fashion/how-to-create-your-own-fashion-style
    http://www.sheinspires.com.au/business/wahm-feedback-business-advice

So you can see it’s about telling a story rather than an advertorial – much more powerful for creating customer relationships.

Being included in stories makes for great content for your email newsletter, Facebook posts, Twitter comments, Blog posts and In the Media section on your website.

For us the stories are ever green and promoted in our email newsletter and social media.

We have more Facebook tips (freely) available for you in the interview stories at http://www.sheinspires.com.au/facebook-tips

The aims of all of this is to tell a great story for our readers, help other small businesses gain exposure and good quality back links and promote each other with quality content.

What free PR has been working for you?

    Hey there,

Yes, I’m doing this all year so still open. :)

I’ve just had one challenge with responses, most I’ve recieved have been particularly sales message orientated and as such, unusable for a story.

As a story is about sharing and giving an insight, not a straight out advertorial, I am only interested in publishing people’s answers who are given in the spirit of an interesting story – not as a sales pitch.

We all love learning from others and those are the stories that work best.

    I hope this is helpful!

    All the best,
    Belinda

    Is this available to men?

The bulk of my clients are women, so I feel like I am not included, yet they have all these things for women only so I feel super out of it

    Hey there

The other half of LIVEin is my fiance, Tamara – she is a brilliant business woman, and I’m sure she would be delighted to share her inspirational story (she has grown a business from 0 – 1.8m turnover in under 4 years, and picked up 6 investment properties along the way).

Send me a PM or email [email protected] and I”ll pass on your details.

    Thanks!

The happy news is there’s no discrimination at all in our magazine – men have won competitions, been in stories and make up about 15% of our readership. I think that’s pretty much the same for all women’s magazines – open to all.

I am sorry if you felt there’s any restrictions, especially as I thought the only requirements I’d made about the stories is that they need to be stories and not advertorials.

With She Inspires, I purposely created it on a series of themes that I find interesting and think my friends will enjoy and end up feeling good about themselves (rather than the way we normally feel after reading glossy women’s magazines!). Just as I was able to create an online magazine I’m sure a man is completely capable of creating one for men. I don’t think like a bloke so don’t feel confident to be able to create a men’s magazine – although I’ve been asked to by a few people.

I hope this is helpful and you keep exploring!

    All the best. :)
