    Hey there,
    I am in the process of planning a new website in partnership with several personal trainers and health professionals. It’s essentially an online community for fitness enthusiasts and encourages exercise in Australia.
    The site is called ‘Fitness Talk’. It certainly doesn’t exist yet, but it is currently being planned.

    Anyway, my question is, in what ways should I go about marketing and generating traffic to our new social fitness community – Fitness Talk?

    Regards, Robbie

    Robbie, I think the idea is to create viral content and to go niche.
    I don’t do a lot of “gym stuff” but with my kids we do self defense… and we are fanatics of a site called
    https://graciekids.com/
    Mainly is teaching jujitsu to kids and bully proof them by doing martial arts as a game. (tons of fitness included)

    The reason why I want point to this site is because their content goes VIRAL like crazy…
    they provide tons of excellent material for free (to start with)
    and they go as niche as possible.

    Fitness talk?
    Great. For who exactly?
    Everyone?
    Dog owners?
    Super Athletes?
    UFC warriors? ;) (I rule in xbox)
    Jogging fanatics…?
    Yummy mummies?

    The more niche the better … in that way you can trigger the viral effect inside each community and even makes your life easier for link building strategies .

    Good luck, and let us know when your site is ready .

    Thanks for the suggestion regarding the SEO/target marketing.
    Aside from SEO I’m seeking alternative or innovative methods of promotion if anyone has ideas.
    I will post the site up when it’s ready, but it’s some time away.

    Hi Robbie,

    I hope you are working with at least one national fitness franchise…?

    Here are some options for you:

    * Social Marketing
    -Facebook
    -Google+
    -Linkedin
    -Youtube
    -Pintrest
    -Twitter
    -etc

    * Custom application development
    -Custom Facebook app
    -Custom mobile app
    -etc

    * Mobile marketing
    -Mobile site development
    -Mobile search optimisation
    -Optin text marketing (text ‘fit’ to 1234 567 890 or scan the QR code)
    -Bluetooth proximity marketing
    -etc

    * Video marketing
    mass video distribution
    -video search optimisation
    -online or offline infomercials
    -instructional videos
    -client testimonial videos
    -etc

    * WordPress site development
    -SEO
    -Premium content
    -Custom plugins
    -etc

    -An overall search engine marketing strategy
    -Search engine marketing for each city
    -Search engine marketing for each local franchise
    -Google Places listing for each local franchise

    Can be marketed as a membership:
    -Free for clients/paid for non clients
    -Paid membership
    -or exclusive membership for clients only

    If you are not working with a national health/fitness franchise, maybe you should think about it. I can help you with any or all of the above. If you choose not to work with a franchise and/or want to do the marketing yourself, just pick and choose whatever is applicable from the above to suit your needs and/or budget and run with it.

    Plus I’m sure there will be plenty more great ideas from other FS members to come.

    Thanks very much for the answer, it’s what I was looking for. To be honest it’s more of a project at this stage rather than a business with no plans to monetise in the short-term.
    Thanks for the great reply.
