I will be taking applications until Friday 14th April.
I am currently looking for a graphic designer to assist me with my growing workload. The amount of work will vary, but I’m expecting to have at least two hours per week, which will hopefully increase over time. It will be on a contracting basis.
It will suit someone who just wants to design without the hassles of admin, searching for work or chasing up payments, or someone starting out who wants to gain some skills and experience.
Typical work may include designing brochures, flyers, business cards, logos, signage and graphics for websites and social media. Most of my clients have established branding, so the you will need to be willing to design within existing parameters.
To be suitable for this position, you will need to:
- Be able to work as a contractor (you will need an ABN)
- Generally be contactable during business hours (even it’s only a couple of days per week, or when your kids are at school)
- Be able to work from your own premises. Although you could be based anywhere, being in Melbourne is preferable.
- I don’t mind if you don’t have tonnes of experience or qualifications, as long as you have a good eye for design, decent skills and a good understanding of Creative Suite. I’d be happy to provide a little help to the right person to improve your skills and experience if you’re just starting out.
- Be willing to work with WordPress sites, social media and email marketing. (If you don’t know how, it’s very easy, I promise)
- Provide your own computer, licensed software and anything else relevant to the job.
- Have good communication skills and be willing to communicate with clients on behalf of my business via email and phone.
About Blue Penguin Design:
Blue Penguin Design is now in its eleventh year. My clients are mainly small businesses of all kinds, as well as some schools, not-for-profit organisations and larger businesses. I provide graphic design and printing as well as a little website and social media work.
The business has been through a few different incarnations over the journey but at this point in time, I’ve chosen to keep it small as I find this more enjoyable, and it leaves me with the sanity and flexibility to enjoy my little family.
You could see a little more at bluepenguin.com.au, however I haven’t had time to update that site for about 4 years, so don’t get too excited!
If you’re interested please email me at jobs@bluepenguin.com.au and include the following:
- Your availability
- Your hourly rate
- Some examples of your work
- Anything else you think may be helpful
Please feel free to ask any questions.
Cheers,
Steve
Blue Penguin DesignPS. I know that’s been a lot to read… Thanks for making it all the way to the bottom! I don’t want to give the impression that it’s a huge, glamorous position, but I did want to give you as much info as possible so you know what your potentially getting yourself into.
March 21, 2017 at 8:45 am #1206837Up::0Hey Steve – I am passing this link to a friend who is a freelance graphic designer – I note your post mentions 14 March, which I assume is meant to be April?
