Does it really matter? If you don’t want to give a revue, don’t. I don’t agree that I am not here to give my services away for free. If I can offer an opinion that may be of help, that’s fine.

Let’s not all get so precious with our reasons for being here. My reasons were to share, learn, grow and give. If someone wants to take advantage of that it has nothing to do with me.

    Hey Joan,

The idea of the template isn’t so much to ensure people don’t abuse the FS community. It’s more to help US help THEM.

If a person asks for a review that is well structured and lays out exactly the areas they’d like feedback on, we can help them a lot more.

We are all willing to give, it’s just so much easier when the question is asked properly! :)

For website and logo concept reviews – I think a great model is this particular site – http://www.conceptfeedback.com/

I don’t know what the Flying Solo philosophy is on commercialisation, however this site offers the best of both world in my opinion.

You can earn credits via contribution, or you can pay a minimal fee (I think its $10) to get some expert opinions without having to contribute if you are time/energy/inspiration poor (which happens!).

For the $10 they guarantee quality feedback from reviewers relevant to the feedback topic. Very affordable, or if you have more time you can easily earn credits (I think you need to offer 5-6 feedbacks), and then you are in the running.

I have found the feedback there very good.

When I started on posting on Flying Solo, I was a Junior Member. The I was a Senior Member. Now I’m an Advanced Member.

Those titles mean nothing to me btw – ps to FS admins (I LOVE IT!) but truly – if we can all help, then we grow as a community.

Its a conversation a friend and I had tonight – the more you give, the more you get in return – I can say unequivocally that that has proved TRUE in every respect.

So give away more than you expect to receive, for it *will* come back to you.

    My $0.05c worth.

Right – I’m off to bed now.

I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC Australia Day tomorrow. (Well, still 55 minutes until the 26th!)

    Cheers
    Brad

    Hi Adam and all!

Thanks for starting this thread and for all the valuable ideas and discussion. We’ve had a long think about all this and have decided to make some changes based on the range of views presented.

Our goal is to retain a simple way for the community to learn from the many Flying Solo resident experts, while making it easier for experts to pass on their knowledge and showcase their skills.

So, we’ve updated the instructions at the top of the ‘Community reviews’ forum and added a 5 question template for reviews to help clarify exactly what is being requested.

We hope this will increase the quality and value of this section for everyone involved.

Of course, we’ll keep a close eye on it as it develops and make more changes if we need to go further.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your views on how to make Flying Solo better.

    Cheers.
    The FS crew
