    Hi

We have a client wanting to book our services, thats the good part.
On requesting payment their treasurer has sent through a “statement by supplier” form asking why we are not charging GST. Is this legit?

We aren’t registered for GST and put “No GST charged” on our invoices.

    Has anyone else seen this?

    Hi Puddleduck

    Do you have an ABN?
If you are running a business you may not need to register for GST but must quote an ABN

There is a form available on the ATO website for those who dont quote an ABN.

    https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/PAYG-withholding/In-detail/Payments-where-no-ABN-is-quoted/Statement-by-a-supplier–not-quoting-ABN-to-an-enterprise/

If no ABN the supplier must withhold 46.5% tax

    Thanks Stellar.

These new forms are proving to be a bit tricky, It looks like I have some work to do tonight to make sure the ABN shows on the printed copy of the invoice.

    Thanks Again
