    To 2012?

And as an aside, what do people think about having the footer:

    © 2012

    OR

    © 2003-2012

    Heidi :)

I use the date the website began and the current date © 1997-2012

Each year I just change the last number.

    Cheers.

I think showing both dates gives your site more credibility, if you have been online for a few years

Thanks Heidi, I hadn’t updated my sites – but have now.

I usually put the start date and current year, as in “(c) 2003-2012 ..”.

Some smaller sites I run I don’t even put a copyright notice.

I don’t believe it makes any legal difference if you have a copyright notice or not.

Technically you should state the creation date, as the idea is to say I wrote it in 2009 and own the copyright from then on.

As websites continually evolve I guess it makes sense to state 2009 – 2012 to cover all the potential creation dates involved.

What about if the website covers work before the site itself was created? I have work on my site going back to 2003, but the site itself has only been up a couple of years.
