    Hi all,

I am Richard from Highstream. Highstream is an internet communications consultancy. We help business reduce their costs and create greater exposure using the internet. This takes on many forms such as VoIP, website hosting, webinar services, online radio services, e-conferencing to name just a few.

I have been in the industry for over 15 years and worked for large companies such as Bechtel, Rio Tinto and have been a state GM for a couple of IT companies.

I have a wealth of knowledge and will be happy to share and provide advice. I believe if you give, you get so much more in return.

I am looking forward to chatting with you all and hopefully catch up in the near future.

    Cheers,

    Hi Richard,

    Welcome to the forums.

Any chance you could get a DSL capable line run to my house? Telstra just won’t listen….plus whats ~200 meters between friends!

Wishing you all the best, and I hope to hear lots of new things about the infrastructure side of IT in the forums as you join in.

Well actually… I can yes. But I wouldn’t recommend going through Telstra. They are not cost effective, run a high contention ratio and charge for uploads!

Seriously though, if you would like me to look into what’s available for you, shoot me an existing number or address via PM and I can look up the exchange info and let you know. Bar you being on a RIM, you should be able to get something quite easily.

    Cheers,

    RIMs are evil.

So is being far away from your exchange!

    Welcome btw :) haha

    Hi Richard,

Yes it is interesting and very satisfying. A lot of what I do, is done for free (Excluding Hardware when required). So for me it’s a case of going to a business at no cost and showing them how much money I can save them. It is very rewarding when I complete a project and the client is saving, for example, 60% off their telephone call costs or generated an extra 20% more traffic to their website.

I sleep well at night. ;-)

    Cheers,
