    Hi everyone,
I’m Kat and I’m attempting to set up an online tea shop based in Victoria.
I’ve got so many questions I need answered, and my silent partner (aka husband) suggested I find a community such as this to find some answers.
In the past I’ve done party-plan, and had my own market stall, and I’ve worked in retail since I was 16 so I think I’ve got the right experience and background, but I suppose time will tell!

    Hi Kat,

It’s lovely to meet you, and thank you for joining us.

Tell your silent partner that you’ve found the right place! We have some highly experienced online retailers around here, as well as very talented web designers and SEO specialists, and they’re all very generous with their knowledge.

Please feel free to start new threads in the relevant parts of the forum and ask any questions you like :)

Welcome aboard, and good luck for your new store,
    Jayne

Hi Kat and welcome! I am really excited about your online tea shop – I am a MASSIVE tea fan! It definitely sounds like you have a great background in retail and customer service, which is a great start.

My little piece of advice (as obvious as it may sound) is to look at what your competitors are doing in the online space, and copy them. Not in an obvious way, but use their existing strategies and benefit from them :-). Much smarter than starting from scratch! After all, some of the bigger ones probably have a whole team to manage their online shop, and plenty of experience in doing it. Then once you get going, you’ll find areas to improve and differentiate from the competitors.

    Wishing you all the best!

    Angela

    Thanks for the welcome!
I’ve been looking at how other online tea shops operate and my tea shop is slowly taking shape.
My headache at the moment is figuring out the food safety. It’s frustrating me!

Your silent partner … rofl! That sounds funny. Lucky you eh?
Do you have a website or anything yet?
I wish you a lot of luck & sucess with your new venture. There are so many great people on here to lend a hand.
Definitely agree with Angela … check out what your competitors are doing & how they appear to be progressing with their strategies.
    Good luck!

Sounds like you’re doing all the right things.

Food Safety hey, I found the best place for help is the local Health Inspector. Knowing mine (and building up a good working relationship) has saved me a lot of frustration over the years.

    Hi Kat and welcome

Sounds like your not so silent partner has offered great advice with you finding this wonderful forum.

I don’t have food safety advice for you but I would have thought Google would provide you with answers. Perhaps another FS member will have the answers for you.
