    Hello, just introducing myself.
I’m Julie and I have just set up a new remedial massage clinic in Mosman NSW. I have recently moved from Cairns to Sydney and finding the transition of setting up in the ‘big smoke’ a bit daunting as the competition is very full on here. Cairns is a very laid back place.
Having discovered Flying Solo I’m sure the tips and advice on here will be just what I need.

    Cheers

    Julie

    Hi Julie,

Welcome to Flying Solo and welcome to Sydney :)

I hope you enjoy every aspect of your new practice – I practiced remedial massage in Mosman waaaaaay back in the late 80s and enjoyed it immensely, so I hope you have the same experience.

Thanks for your kind comments about Flying Solo too, by the way.

    Best wishes,
    Jayne

    Hi Julie,

    Welcome to the forum.
Yes Sydney is the big smoke with a lot of competition but also a huge population that needs massage.
    Good luck.

Remidial Massage I used to have every two weeks when I was working.
Unbelievably good for the body and the mind. My guy worked with a Physio and rented space from him.
It has been a while since I had a massage, but all I can say they are necessary for any one who has a physical type job and even more so for those who only “sit” whilst working.
Good luck, you will probably find heeps of laid back people in Sydney as well

Thank you everyone for your kind welcome, it is much appreciated !! Not a personal choice to be here in Sydney (partner in Navy) but I’m going to make the most of this beautiful city, even though I’m feeling the cold.

Can anyone help me with suggestions on how to network or create business without knowing anyone ? I have a shoestring budget and I’ve done the basics of website, biz cards, letterbox dropping (which didn’t work).

    Thanks

    Cheers

    Hi Julie,

Great to hear you’re in the massage industry! Just wanted to say hello from sunny Queensland. I’ve been running a successful mobile massage service, Massage Specialists, for the past 4 years and now operate on the Gold Coast and Brisbane. I know how daunting setting up a new company within this industry can be so I hope everything is going well for you in Sydney so far!

The best advice I can give you is to get yourself some health software to automate your business processes. It makes building your clientele a whole lot easier as you can really focus on treating clients rather than managing all aspects of your business. I have to admit, deciding to use software right from the moment I set up my business has been the main reason my business is so successful. It also makes me different to my competitors as I can accept online bookings and payments 24/7 so I’m not limited to only taking bookings during business hours.

As for what software I use, I’ll be transitioning from the software I’m currently using to a more improved one called Mystro. It’s not available until early next year but it’s well worth the wait! :) From memory, they have 4 packages depending on how small or large your business is and their prices are very affordable, so it won’t break the bank! A small price to pay I think.

Anyway, I hope my advice helps in some way and I wish you the best of luck!

    Thanks :)
