    Hi All

    I am new to Australia, My partner is doing her PHD and so i landed up here..I have a full time work permit as a dependent but i want to start a small mcommerce company.. since my background is 8+ years or digital /mobile marketing.Can i legally start a company with my VISA?

    Can any one help me clarify ? Or is there any govt departments that i could contact to know more ..

    Generally in a case like yours, you may be able start your business as a sole trader by registering a business name and then applying for ABN etc.

    You are not eligible to register a company as your are not a Australian permanent resident or Citizen.

    So, yes you can start a business but not a company by yourself.
