    G’day,

I’ve found this forum and website a valuable source of information, so I decided to sign up properly today!

Just to give a little background, myself and my business partner have just established a small cleaning contracting company (hoping for the business cards to arrive soon!) however we have not yet started trading. We hope to do general commercial cleaning (offices, etc.) but specialise in hospitality (restaurant and hotels) cleaning – as they’re the industries we’re familiar with.

We’ve still got a way to go before we start trading in earnest – need to sort out insurance, equipment and actual real clients. I’m also needing to finish up my uni degree, which, I hope, won’t get too much in the way of the business.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who puts up valuable information and helps others – this forum is chocker block with handy info.

Also – can any one in the cleaning field recommend which association to join: ACCA or BSCAA? I would obviously love to join both, however I don’t have enough money to do so. I’ve seen the forum member Burgo recommend ACCA in a few threads but the BSCAA website appears to be more modern, etc (not that that necessarily means anything!)

    Hi Clean Thumb and welcome,

Sounds like you are well on your way to getting all your ducks in a row! Congratulations on your progress so far, and fingers crossed that Burgo or one of the other cleaning gurus who frequent the forum will have some helpful advice for you.

Good luck with your new venture :)

    Hi Clean Thumb,

Welcome to FS. This sure is a great place for someone new to business to be looking and learning, i have just done it myself with my business. There are so many helpful people on here and so many questions asked so it is a great source of information.

I can actually point you in the right direction for some of the cleaning supplies you will need when you are ready. It is so good to be able to cross things off the list when just starting out. What city are you in by the way??

Good luck with your new business and most of all have fun. I look forward to hearing more about your adventures.

    Kind Regards
    Kim

Thanks Jayne, I been having some difficulty with login, but I’ve been allowed back in again.
Clean Thumb, to answer your question which association to join.
As you are new to the industry, ACCA would be the Association of choice.
John Laws is the person to talk to, listen to what he says because he is one of the most influential person in the contract cleaning industry

The BSCCA is for the BIG BOYS, those with many staff and offices in each state. This association is probably the leading association if your dealing with Government bodies.

But as I said I believe ACCA would be most suitable for your requirements
