    Hi,

I’m Deb Smith and I’ve been in business about 12 months. Business is slowly picking up as word spreads about what I do. I have a natural light studio at home and photograph women over 30. I sell the luxury experience of the styling and makeover as much as the beautiful images. My website is embarrassingly skeletal at the moment. I have two talented businesses helping me with a tagline and graphic design. Shout out to Lucinda at Slogan Creator and Shona at Shona Creative – very talented people!

My question is 13 or 1300 numbers – I hate using my mobile number on my website / business cards. What is your experience with 13 or 1300 numbers and what happens if I’m doing a shoot and cannot answer my call?

    Cheers
    Deb

    Greetings Deb, and welcome!

Sounds like you’ve got some fabulous folk supporting you there :)

We have a few telecommunications specialists around here who can probably advise you on your phone issues.

Hang tight for a bit and I’m sure someone will be along to give you some tips, but in the meantime, thanks for joining the forum!

    Hi Deb,

    Welcome to the forum,
I provide small businesses landline number without the landline and divert the calls to their mobile. Just like a 13/1300 service.

With this service you are in complete control of when you are contacted, set days and times for when calls will go to you and outside those hours they go to message bank.

Also we have a built in voicemail service so after 15,30,45,60 or 90 seconds of ringing people can leave a message.

There is more, I hope I can assist. Please call or visit my website.

    Steve

Thanks Steve, this sounds like a great idea for a small business like mine. I’ll send a message through your website.

    Hi Deb

I know this is coming in a couple of weeks late, but hopefully it’s still useful information! :)

You should also have a look into using a live answering service. You can get an Australian-based messaging service (where they answer calls in your business name, and then send you an email and SMS with the call details) from $29 a month. Helps to ensure that you never miss a call (potential business), plus makes callers think you’re big enough to have your own receptionist.

You can check out the Virtual Office link in my signature to see how we can help you, plus you can do a Google search for live answering service to see what else is out there.

    Cheers
    Gail

Thanks for the shout-out Deb! I just found this post when Googling my business name in Discussions and I’m very glad that I did.

You’ve been a pleasure to work along-side. I hope your hunt for a 1300 number goes well! :-)
