    Hello other solo flyers,

I have just started my new business Fruition Nutrition ~ ecological concepts for healthy soils, plants, animals and people . .

As I am starting out I have chosen to provide products first and then add services once I am on my feet. I am currently supplying a range of products such as biological soil ameliorants, organic livestock and pet supplements and educational material on sustainable production to farmers and gardeners. In addition I supply human food and health supplements like liquid probiotics, mineral salts, liver and digestive tonics, and a few other preparations rich in phytonutrients to support wellness. At times during the year I will also sell plants such as fruit trees, vegetables and herbs that have been grown using biological principles.

As my name and tag line suggests (I hope) I am drawing attention to the link between soil health, crop health, animal health and human health. As I have learned over the years there are strong connections; socially, nutritionally and ecologically between the origins of our food, fibres and communities.

I have a strong interest in soil biology and ecology and so I intend to build services in my business around the management of healthy soils and therefore the growing of healthy, minerally rich and sustainable food and fodder crops.

At the moment I am not operating a shopfront rather I am travelling to local farmers markets and fairs speaking to interested customers and selling a few products along the way. I am operating out of my home near Boort in North Central Victoria and will be at market anywhere in between Bendigo – Castlemaine – Ballarat – Echuca – Murrabit – Kerang. Customers can build a relationship with me based on trust and familiarity as I intend to cover all my local areas in my region on a regular basis – they can order special products from me or simply pick up what they need on the day.

As it is sort of a mail order business and a lot of business is based on a returning customer base I need to develop good marketing and branding tools combined with a web presence that allows customers to find out a bit about what I do and who I am. This webspace could also morph into an online ordering facility.

I joined flying solo recently to get some more info on developing websites. As a one-man-band I want to set up a website that is cheap and effective and I am willing to use my time to update as neccessary. I have purchased the domain name http://www.fruitionnutrition.com.au and need to go from there.
Also I enjoying using flying solo for ideas on how to do things differently. Being involved with a network where other people are doing the same things I am really helps.

Pleased to cop any feedback, help, or chat about my business – fruitionnutrition@bigpond.com

    Hi Elise,

Welcome to FS and I have to echo Jayne’s comment, great business name.

You are likely to have a whole host of people try and sell you on building a website for you. If you are looking at the do-it-yourself option, take a look at http://www.webtemplates.com.au/ for a simple template starter you can build on. It is a cost effective way to get your online presence initiated however of course the flip side is you will have to spend the time away from your core business to set it up.

I wonder too if a bit of facebook/twitter networking might suit your business. You have got a great subject area to discuss and comment on, might attract a wider potential customer base.

    Best of luck.

    Regards,

    Dan
