Hi
My name is Tashy. I am launching a hypnotherapy/coaching business as a solopreneur, coaching specializing in gut issues and chronic health conditions. I don’t know a lot about ‘socials’ or social media marketing.
I am already a remedial massage therapist running two clinics under the name Shine Therapies.
I would love to know, I have the following two Instagram usernames – and have not started my marketing yet on the one I choose.
I have had advice that it is best to go with (a) as its better not to have dots, dashes etc. Although on my print material, eg posters etc (b) is more legible when the dot is there.
Can anybody help with which Instagram user name to go with ?
(a) shinehypnotherapies
or
(b) shine.hypnotherapies
(has a dot)
Would it also be good to have an instagram page/account about the gut issues / health conditions specifically OR keep all my marketing on the one instagram account.
Cheers
Tashy

My preference would be without the full stop if they’re both available, as you mentioned this is easier for people to find if they’ve seen your instagram handle in print or elsewhere.
In regards to the 2 businesses, it doesn’t really sound like the gut health side of things fits under the umbrella of “hypnotherapy” so it may be out of place here. Potentially it’s worth investigating a brand name that can encapsulate both areas of business under one banner.
Something like “Shine Health & Wellbeing” or anything along those lines lets you cover a broader range of services than just hypnotheraphy. This way you can focus your time on building the following of one page and giving it full attention.
Hope this helps set your direction for social!

Thank you so much for replying to my post.
Just a clarifying question: shinehypnotherapies or shine.hypnotherapies
(a) what is the best protocol when getting an instagram handle – I thought usually without dots, dashes , numbers it says to visitors to instagram that i picked the first handle off the rank, so looks better?
(b) i was just concerned that the first one (no dot) might look too wordy and unclear for print/poster purposes but mindful that getting clients from the print poster purposes will be a low number compared to click through links online digitally?June 1, 2021 at 4:53 pm #1227933Up::0Hi JonoW

Could you shorten it further for your handle to Shinehypno? People will still see your full business name on your profile but then it’ll be easier to type in if they see it in print.

Its a good idea to also check all the other platforms (FB, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, TikTok) to see if the name is available – its a good idea to have the same name on all the platforms so you can include on your marketing material (e.g. business cards) easily.
Best wishes!
