I have been looking at this for a while and can not seem to find anything out there so maybe someone could help.

I have an e-commernce store and have a few hundred bags etc in stock. Only 6 models but lots of colors and the same with my other items.

How does everyone else with a small business control inventory?

Most e-commerce stores have inventory options available in the set up. There should be an option to add the number that you have of each item. Then when the item is sold out, it shoudl automatically adjust to indicate ‘out of stock’ or simmilar.

What e-commerce software are you using?

    Kind regards,

Hi Shelly, I use cartloom.com and chose it because of the inventory side. Sadly the first 2 transactions it failed to change the inventory after a sale so I am a little a=wary of it. Maybe I should give it another chance. I emailed Yabdab and they were not able to figure what happened. Just thought a back up might be a good thing :-)

I use Xencart for a seperate business I run that ecommerce related…
In the end it was easier to add a seperate item for each color etc.
With some code changes I now have it so that I can have..

    In Stock
Back ordered (but they can still place an order and wait)
Special Order (I order it when they do).

I like that idea Rob. The Cartloom does work well for me and the other issue I have is I designed the web page myself using rapid weaver and cartloom has plug ing that I could easily use into the page. The back order and Special order things sounds really great though.
