    Hi,

I wanted to open up a discussion on how you get new clients.

    Do you:

    Cold call?
Get inbound leads? If so, how? eg SEO, advertise etc.
    Referrals?
    Attend networking events?
Employ a sales person / sales team?

What do you enjoy doing in regards to sales, and what do you hate doing?

Please feel free to share your experiences and what you do well / don’t do well!

I think we could all learn off each other.

Personally, I cold call, get referrals and employ sales people! I can honestly say I enjoy all parts of sales, and enjoy the thrill of the chase so to speak!

I do most of those things. I’ve not done much networking nor do I employ a sales person.

I do a combination of SEO work, PPC and display advertising as well as the usual networking and referral based stuff.

I generally think that if you provide a fantastic service you should get a large portion of your leads from already satisfied customers and clients. I like to focus on the core of what we offer, and ensure that the product is fantastic, everything else to me is secondary as good news spreads, almost as well as bad news.

    Cheers!

Blogging, building my ranking in Google, connecting with others on social networking platforms and cold calling is what I primarily do.

I would say that it depends on the type of work that you’re doing. If you’re a broker then I would definitely say that cold-calling helps – it’ll get you that couple of minutes that you need to make a pitch. If you’re an independent consultant than referrals are something that are quite beneficial. Here’s an article that might help you or others that might be consultants with trying to sell yourself to the client (it could be of use, but it might also not be).

Hi BIp Sales! It’s Shane Walker here.

In regards to getting new clients, it really depends on where your target market is hanging out. The first thing you have to do is to assess where your target market is and then workout the method that will best place your business in front of those people. Personally, I use SEO, pay-per-click, and networking. In my own website, I do a lot of lead captcha and email marketing as well. So, it really just depends on what suits your target market.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
