    Hi Sarah1477,
My name is Vaninder. I am also interested in starting an import business of textile from India. But I don’t know where to start from. Could you please help me to get my checklist ready.

Also I found a link below where you can check the charges. It might be helpful.

    Hi Sarah,

The port charges in the link above gives you a good indication of each sea container and their will also be duty charges on top of that, so factor that in.

You don’t mention what you importing, so the general link to the pricing is the all I can provide :)

    Cheers

    Hi Vaninder,

Textiles is a huge import business, but one of the critical elements you need to consider is quality.

I would read up on the Textile councils (I don’t know which textiles you are considering so I have listed all) and have a look at the various Councils from the Indian end, so you understand their export processes and manufacturing.

Also, as I have said to people in the past nothing beats getting on a plane and visiting your suppliers, as they are the key to your business success, it’s a huge cultural thing in India and they will show you the entire process.

I have been to India many times and loved every minute of it.
