The international business network for women – The Athena Network launched in Sydney earlier this year and has communities operating in the City, North Sydney, Chatswood, Gordon and Ryde.
Communities meet once a month during business hours for women to connect and build their network, to access business/professional/personal development and to share knowledge, experience and ideas.
Our vision is ‘to have women in business prosper’
Women in micro/small/medium business, whether business owners or those responsible for developing business for others are welcome – we currently have lawyers, trapeze artists, physiotherapists, caterers, business analysts, marketing consultants, bankers, copywriters to name but a few.
For further information see http://www.theathenanetwork.com.au or call Suzy Jacobs 02 91130777 for further information.
For a list of current members see our online business forum at http://www.athenaconnect.com.

    Good morning Burgo,
Plenty for the bloke, just not at Athena.
We’re at an incredibly exciting time in our economic development, 65% of homebased businesses and 50% of small businesses are being started by women! The Athena Network is out to have those businesses prosper. We’re a networking community that provides a non competitive, supportive environment where women can learn to network effectively, access business and professional development (cost effectively) and share ideas, knowledge and experience.
No matter which way you cut it, women communicate differently when left to themselves, just as men do. The Athena Network provides a business format which allows that communication to have a powerful influence on the success of women in business.

So true they do communicate differently where blokes hardly communicate.

Women have this advantage over blokes as they seem to socialise much better. Just look in a coffee shop at anytime through out the day and you will find women socialising.

Now dont get me wrong we blokes can learn a lot from the women in business but for some strange reason we blokes are left out and are not welcome.

We modern new age guys want to communicate as much as women but to be quite honest I doubt if we know HOW.

    Hi Burgo

There are plenty of Old Boy Clubs and Mixed Gender Networking Groups around, don’t you think? There is a place for everyone. :)

    Hi Astrid,
Absolutely … and isn’t it great that networking is now recognised as an effective marketing strategy hence the diversity of networking events.

and Burgo …. i don’t know that i can help men communicate but Athena can certainly offer women an infrastructure and community which will support them in this new era of business.
