I intend on hiring a freelancer software programmer from India to do some work for a project I am working on. We have agreed that he will receive 20% of the total profits generated by the service being developed. How can I set out a legal contract or agreement that both of us legally have to abide by and one which outlines our rights and responsibilities and how can we have this agreement be valid internationally (programmer is in India and I am in Australia)? We just want to reassure ourselves with a legal agreement where we know our rights and responsibilities. I don’t want him to be a part company owner, I simply want to share profits and I want this fact to be legally recognised so that he can feel reassured about his right of a share of profits. Would a shareholders agreement suffice for us?

    Thanks for your help
