    Hi guys,

How are you all? It is great to find an Australian forum for small business owners

    So a bit about me…

I have recently moved from the big smoke of Sydney, six hours north, to Armidale in NSW and I absolutely love it here. After a six month whirl wind adventure around Australia, my wife and I fell in love with rural Australia and decided to move.

Before making the move I use to be a marketing manager for a mortgage broking company in Sydney. I was good at it and I loved building up teams of people to make an exceptional company.

However, my passion lies in helping people.

I have been a men’s group facilitator for about 5 years. I have also worked as a life/mens coach on the side for the last 2 years with a number of personal development companies around Sydney.

As a coach I specialise in helping men master their relationships with their women & their work. (however I have definitely helped a lot of women too).

It’s time for me to branch out. I have a very clear vision with what I want to create, and part of that is to build up my own business.

So that brings me to this forum.

I’m here because, yes I know how to grow a business, but I don’t know how to build a business from the ground up and all the nitty gritty details that are involved. I’m looking for guidance, support, and to lend my knowledge and expertise to those that can benefit.

It is a pleasure to be on the site. I hope you guys can help get my feet grounded and show me the ropes and in return I hope I can help out any newbie (or even some of the old hats) from my experience

    Nathan

    Hi Nathan and welcome!

Sounds like you guys have made a great move there .

Chatting about building businesses is our favourite pastime around here, so please feel free to start a new thread to ask any specific questions you have.

    Good luck,
    Jayne

    Hi Nathan,

Always nice to meet fellow coaches :)

I’ve never been to Armidale but heard it’s awesome.

The fact that you have a clear vision for your business is fantastic, and I’m sure you won’t get too bogged down with all the initial business-building activities!

I live and breathe the startup phase, so any questions don’t hesitate to ask :)

Thanks for the support guys. I’m excited to get started. I’m sure I’ll have many questions coming soon :)

    @RachelWrites
    – Great to know that their are other coaches on the forum. What kind of coaching do you do?

I help people get started on their home business journeys. I specialise in helping stay-at-home parents pinpoint business ideas / home business opportunities that fit their budget and schedule – and then I guide them on getting started and turning it into a functioning biz :)

I coach mostly through email as it’s very convenient for parents with little kiddies around!

How are you planning to deliver your new coaching service? Online or in-person / workshops in Armidale?

    Wow that sounds exciting Rachel.

My main way I will be coaching is either over the phone or skype. I find it far more effective to do it in person (which I did in Sydney) however phone and skype have definitely been effective.

There are only a limit number of people in Armidale so phone and skype allows me to help people anywhere in the world. I’ve currently got one client who moves between Sydney and the Gold Coast for work, and another who is in the US – so that system works perfectly for them and me.

I’ve got a number of connections from my time in Sydney, so I will likely run some workshops with them and fly down. I’m currently talking to some young professional networks here in Armidale as well as the Chamber of Commerce (which is actually just one person). They are both eager to collaborate, so workshops in Armidale are definitely a possibility.

My main form of income will likely be one-on-ones. It allows me to really dig deep with the person and get specific. As a result the impact it has on whatever area of life they are focusing is 100 times more than when I run workshops.

Either way I plan to have some fun and play with both.
