We have an incredibly diverse and talented community here – Everything from coaches to tradesman, accountants, lawyers, web designers, printers, brokers, Travel Managers, copywriters and enough online stores to satisfy our every desire!
It’s tough being a soloist – And sometimes quite difficult to extend our marketing reach.
So next time you have a craving for some herbal teas, or need some repairs done to the house, or even need to order some new supplies for your business, check out the directory (located here) first.

Doing business with the people you know through the forum makes a lot of sense. Better still get along to one of the many networking gettogethers in any of our cities and regional areas and actually meet some these wondeRful forum members.
You may not need to do business with them at present but who knows who wants to do business with you.I have met an accountant and a bookkeeper financiers and designers and the BEST printer just through this forum and there are far too many to list of those Ive met ( and had I still been operating my business) would not hesitate to use their services.
The beauty of this is that you are helping a FELLOW SOLOIST as well as helping yourself, and what better way to secure your future.
June 1, 2010 at 1:06 am #1033321Up::0Very true Burgo – I think thanks to your inspiration with the Sydney networking group, there are groups all over Australia now!
It was a very good idea and has proved very successful.

June 1, 2010 at 1:12 am #1033322Up::0Great idea Jake, I should spend more time looking in the directory for suppliers.
SIDE NOTE: Has the business directory always been alphabetical? I thought it was previously listed in a sort of chronological order (earlier you joined the higher you were in the list?) – maybe this is best addresses to the FS folks themselves.
June 1, 2010 at 1:14 am #1033323Up::0Emroy & Burgo,
Our mission has always been to enable soloists to connect and support one another. Everything we do – articles, the forum, the directory – facilitates this. We hope it does anyway!
Ultimately, of course, it’s up to the community to make the most of what’s on offer and the way you support and endorse Flying Solo is a great service to us and to them.
Thank you… as always.
Fiona – Robert & Peter know about the ordering in the directory, they’ll be back on board later in the week, I’ll get them to respond.

It’s always been intended that the results are randomised. A fix was introduced, but that has incorrectly translated into an alphabetical display of results. Don’t ask me why. Please.
Randomising will magically appear vvvv soon!

But you’re right Fiona – I also noticed the same thing – my TBD was on top of the list for quite some time but it’s not anymore. Lucky I’m not called “Zambia Specialist Travel” or similar… . But I may quickly register a new name, something like AAAAAAAA TBD, just to be on the safe side.
just joking of course… – I’m sure the directory listing will be soon as it should be – in random order. I say give everyone the same chance of being on top.
