Good afternoon all.
I’m looking for some advice and also some linking opportunities for my website/small business http://www.paradisetours.com.au

I have established some links for the site however the more the better. I want to stay away from low integrity link sites such as bottom feeding directories and work with more industry relevant businesses and other good quality operations. If anyone has some suggestions or perhaps some methodologies for approaching other owners regarding links that would be most helpful.

Look forward to some ideas and would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in linking with us.

Thanks

Hello @Damian Paradise Tours you are probably not really asking the right question. Firstly link building is pretty much a waste of time unless the links have some true value. Otherwise Google just sees it as spam. Your site is already generating a spam score.

What you need to do is fix the basics for Google that means Meta tags, Title tags, H1, H2 and content. None of these have been really setup on your website (see image). So my suggestions are:

• Forget link building
• Fix the basics for good content based SEO
• Concentrate on building content maybe some blogs about tours
• Get rid of the sound track its annoying (specially on a mobile) will also mean a lot of people will just click away from your website.

You website is very attractive but you need to scroll to find any content. Make it easier for people to find out about what you do.

Hi John, thanks for the reply. Yes I am having a look at the site metrics at the moment, I think the spam rating maybe coming from the previous owners of my domain. I have some links with places I have never had any business or other dealings with that seem to be a hangover from a previous business.

And yes you are quite correct only minimal work re seo has been carried out on the site thus far. I guess with monetary resources limited I have been actively pursuing aspects that I can implement without incurring additional cost such as link building. Are you saying that the links with other good sites will not have any benefit?

I really appreciate your time and thoughts thanks again for making the effort

Yes Damian that is what I am saying. Unless you do some work on the content first whatever you do on the links will probably just be considered more spammy.

There is no quick fix for getting good search engine results. You may get lots of emails from SEO specialists telling you otherwise but the good and professional search engine specialist always start with the content.

There are some good people on this forum that know SEO well and they might jump in here as well. I am not an SEO advocate or practitioner. My advice is to start with the Google Search Engine Optimisation Guide. Maybe take some of the courses in the Google Webmaster Academy. Its not rocket science!

Start a Google Search Engine Console and Bing Webmaster account (they are free) and add your website and upload a sitemap (XML version). Take a look what the two systems tell you and use their help facilities. Try services like MOZ or SEMRUSH.

Hi Damian,

Have you considered networking with local bed & breakfasts, motels, car rentals or even your Local Chamber of Commerce?

Provide your site visitors with information about the area & like minded businesses.

Cheers
Corey

Yes please, if I had to look at that site for 10 minutes to decide what I wanted it would drive me crazy

Re. link building, have to agree with the above replies. There is some good advise on Moz.com which has a free blog explaining some good approaches to links and seo etc…Worth reviewing

Hi Damian,

We have found offering partners a page on our own site with links to a page on their site to be very effective for both SEO and for building great partnerships. At the end of the day, it’s about providing your customers and visitors with something of interest/value. Look for opportunities in complementary industries and only work with credible partners/sites to maintain your brand credibility.

All the best!

Miranda
