    hi,

(first of all apologies if this is in the wrong section, this is my first post ever!)

I’ve got some designs on paper for my own fashion line (specifically in womens sportswear). However before handing them over to the manufacturers in China (which is where I eventually want my garments made) I wanted to test the product first and see how it looks in real life.

To do that, I was hoping to get it manufactured locally in Sydney. However I’m not sure who to contact for this particular service of producing my paper designs and doing all the technical specs. I also don’t want to spend too much. Who do you guys think I should contact, and whereabouts do I look for them?

    thanks in advance!

These guys are in Melbourne not Sydney unfortunately, but I think they do what you’re looking for: http://www.sampleroom.com.au.

    Cheers,
    Victor

    Hi ablwear,

    Welcome to Flying Solo :)

I hope Victor’s recommendation is helpful for you (thanks Victor!), and there may well be some additional ideas for you over the next few days too.

    Good luck!

thanks so much Victor! I could fly over I guess, although it would be great to find something like that locally as well.

Re: My own clothing designs on paper- looking for local manufacturers to make test pi

    Hi,

I am also in the same boat as you ablwear.
I have a product in mind, l haven’t a pattern though but l have a similar product to base it off, so l imagine the pattern won’t be as hard as my drawing cause l can’t draw at all!

I want to get a small batch of about 100 done in Sydney to ensure it is exactly the way l want it. It might cost more than ‘made in china’ BUT from what l am reading unless you have someone on the ground over in asia your product won’t be guaranteed.
I am potentially going to live in asia next year so l want a batch here, then l will go over and source in 2015.

I have just spent the last 5 hours reading probably 50 threads on the topic here.

The link above http://www.sampleroom.com.au looks absolutely brilliant to me… but they are based in Melbourne and l can’t afford to fly there this weekend!

So l googled their website’s keywords and came up with this one which is very close to where l live!

    http://www.carynluxtondesign.com.au

I think l will be going there next week to get my idea started.

Hopefully this will help you too.

Also since l am going to start my business idea and l do not have a clothing / dressmaking / designing background l have also just signed up for the information session from the sampleroom.

It’s $20, it’s a webinar and it might give me a few tips to some queries l got.
I figure for $20 and l may just save myself thousands by one piece of simple advice they have to offer.

    Information Session
Once a fortnight on a Tuesday night at 7pm, we hold an information webinar where you will learn about the processes involved from design to the production of a manufacture-ready product and the services we can provide to help you achieve your goals.
