FYI – AdWords advertisers and anyone thinking about it!
It looks like Google is really trying to make mobile search work with the advent of new Call Only campaigns designed to only show on mobile devices.
These new ads don’t bring visits to your website (though you still have to have one) – instead they show only a phone number and click to call button, the idea being to bypass the website and get the enquiries straight to the phone, obviously a useful thing to many trades and service businesses.
I can imagine several businesses will want to try this, particularly services like emergency plumbers, electricians, roofers etc that tend to get a lot of mobile traffic, though I’m already aware of interest from florists and restaurants too.
It was only introduced over the weekend but early results are already very promising!
