Looks like G is experimenting again with results page layouts. While investigating a report on one from an overseas contact I came across another type here in Oz which is new to me at least.
I grabbed a screenshot if anyone want to see it: new Google results page
Now I might just be a late observer but I’d love to hear if this is widespread or jjust showing in some areas as an experiment?
Edit – I know its the ‘shopping results’ view which is the only way I could reproduce the page but it was observed as a ‘normal’ result while checking out some other experiments.July 22, 2011 at 12:10 am #1068184AlliedMember

Yes, Google has been appearing like this for over a week. They have also moved the website addresess up to under the titles.
It looks a bit more like a webpage now I think. Not sure if I like the black, it doesn’t look like the Google we are used to.July 22, 2011 at 4:28 am #1068185JexleyMember

Yeah, I really hate when they muck with their design. I mean, that’s one of the things that keeps my faith in them, is that they’re not contantly farting around with things *coughFACEBOOKcough*.
Seriously, they’ve had the “I’m Feelin’ Lucky” button for 11 years and I’ve never hit it. But I LOVE knowing it’s there.July 22, 2011 at 4:45 am #1068186July 22, 2011 at 4:51 am #1068187JexleyMember

Mate, not to get all huggery on you, but I only quick glance at posts for about 3 names to see if I want to read, and yours is most certainly one of them.
That said, I’ve twinged my back again and am high on oxycodone, so I’m about as huggery as a guy can get, so come ‘ere!July 22, 2011 at 7:14 am #1068188bridiejMember

I don’t like the black, for the first few times I assumed I’d gone to the wrong page somehow!July 26, 2011 at 7:44 am #1068189seolyka2Member

I also don’t like the black personally. IMO, the previous design looks better.July 27, 2011 at 6:10 am #1068190::bridal paul, post: 0 wrote:Google’s new designer is from apple??
No, I think they’ve grabbed a WordPress theme.

Sort of back on topic.
Google Aust has stolen my “cached” link! Give it back NOW.
Keep your stupid +1s and the Places results that are in the wrong place and scammed to uselessness – just gimme my “cached” link back.
More Google changes?
Has anyone experienced or noticed any major change in ranking results recently?
Eg 1: I did an Aust pages exact phrase search for “unique selling proposition” = 13,300 results
Then appended as an inexact search three more words (“unique selling proposition” examples architects designers) = 337,000 results.
Has Google changed to providing “AND” search results or does this reflect huge increases in “words in link text” pages being spat out by all manner of automated page generating methods?
Eg 2: An inexact search on Aust pages for: accountant mulgrave
I am seeing heaps of sham directories, Adword spam sites, scraper sites and other useless garbage. These 6 are all in the top 20 results:
(At least 3 of these are clearly published by the same person and I’ve sent in a spam report.)
Are we seeing more post Panda fixes being implemented on the Aust index?

FFS I think I’ve had enough of this experimentation already!
John – I’m seeing the cached links ok but now all the adwords ads have disappeared off the side of the page on several searches! Some of those have appeared in another coloured box at the bottom of the SERPs pages in Yahoo style.
Still have not seen the infinite scroll variety of SERPs page as reported by a few overseas observers!July 27, 2011 at 11:41 pm #1068193::
Also seeing lots of directories and doorway pages in the SERPS!July 28, 2011 at 1:12 am #1068194::Aidan, post: 85198 wrote:John – I’m seeing the cached links ok but now all the adwords ads have disappeared off the side of the page on several searches!
I just worked out the missing “cached” link is browser specific. It’s there in Firefox and Chrome but not in IE8.
Also strange that missing “cached” link is specific to G. Aust. I tried US, UK, Canada, Sing & NZ, they are all OK.
I still have not seen the other items you describe but they may also be browser specific.
I hope G sorts out its act soon but there must be a lot to fix.
I’ve never seen Google deliver such poor quality search results in all its existence.
