So, I’ve updated the logo. It used to be 4 little coloured squares, but I’ve gone for a new “smart” feel.

The new logo is online on the site http://www.smartbizblog.com

    Here is the old logo:

I prefer the old one. The new one looks a little busy and amateurish.

If you get rid of the head, find a nice solid colour lightbulb, and move the lightbulb to the left of the text, you might be getting somewhere.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Yeah, what Matthew said. One thing I heard years ago and has always stuck with me – you should be able to draw a logo with your finger in sand.

I think the head too complex, too much going on. Try to simplify it so that it still makes sense at a small size and printed with one color… You’ll probably find it has far more impact that way!

I also liked your old one better. Much bolder, cleaner and indicative of being ‘progressive’ without being too literal! Any particular reason for wanting to make such a bold change?

I like the old logo as well. Why are you wanting to change your logo?

The change was brought about due to inconsistencies in facebook/twitter layouts and colour/style schemes.

Let me know what you think of this revision (incorporating Matthew’s suggestions).

Due to overwhelming support for the old logo, I have decided to revert it back :)

Thanks for the comments all – the community has spoken. I always thought the old one looked amateurish with the letters inside the boxes and having only 3 letters SBB with 4 boxes.

    Hi SmartBizBlog,

It seems you have already come to a decision to keep your existing logo (sans letters inside the boxes)…

I think that was a wise decision and just wanted to add a little piece of advice I was given once upon a time…

“By the time you start to get bored with your logo, it is about the same time people are starting to recognise it – so don’t change it unless you have a good reason.”

I like the old one, keep it simple, had to think about the new one so although that’s a clever thought its too complicated for me

good luck for the next one or just change the colour dymanics of the old one, after all most like it as it is

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
