businesstrade.com.au - buy or sell a businessFebruary 16, 2019 at 5:04 am #1216219Up::0I disagree, I don’t find it unprofessional, it’s leveraging shopify’s trust. I find it reassuring because I know shopify know what they are doing.
There’s no way I’d use a credit card on a non branded payment gateway on a small business website. I say that as a consumer and as someone who has built afsl and pci compliant credit card and bank transfer payment platforms.
From a business perspective, I think it’s prudent as well, why invest a lot of money up front when you don’t know it will be successful – sure you might pay a higher percentage for payments, but less overhead. Once you’re raking in the cash sure build something to reduce variable costs and you have a reputation and trust by then too so can afford the shift.

If it’s possible I agree 200%, trust trust and trust is number 1 before I buy. It could still be a dodgy seller, but at least the underlying fundamentals have some credibility
February 16, 2019 at 7:07 am #1216221Up::0I also find that the Shopify platform is more trustworthy and I am more likely to buy from a store on that platform. I don’t show the ‘Powered by Shopify’ on my stores but I certainly don’t mistrust stores that do show it.

I actually think the Shopify logo does help the trust thing and as Luke said they do know what they’re doing.
BTW, I revisited the OP’s link and I have to say the site is vastly improved from when it was first posted. Seems that over time and more than one website (if memory serves me correctly) @Averil Quinn has taken on some pretty savage criticism and implemented a lot of good advice offered in other threads to get there…something most similar posters don’t do…they just sulk or disappear.
