    Hi Everyone,

We’re looking to get some feedback on our website: The Kit Source. We recently revamped it to be more in line with our branding objectives. This involved changing the layout significantly and taking better/new photos of our products.

    What we do
My Wife and I started this online Party Store last September and have had positive feedback from friends and strangers. We’ve had a small amount of sales but really want to push it this year.

One of key challenges is letting people know that this is a great alternative for buying party supplies. The traditional method is to pop into a discount/party store or to buy from their online stores. We found this to be time consuming and they lacked the style and quality of supplies we wanted. Our aims are to streamline the buying process, make party planning less stressful and provide themes that aren’t over commercialised or tacky (E.g. logos on every item!).

We do this by curating party supplies from around the world, bundling them into unique themes and package as ‘Party Kits’. We also provide Party Decorations and DIY Birthday Cakes as Kits for those who want the TRIFECTA (party supplies, decorations & cake!).

    Our target market
We see our main customers as new Mums or Mums with young children who are like online shopping. They don’t want to be heading to the shops, dealing with crowds and wandering the aisles etc to buy party supplies. They want quality and attractive party supplies without expending too much energy.

    Specific concerns

Is our messaging effective for our target market?
Do you find our website trustworthy?
Does our website setup/layout match our aims of making party planning less stressful?
What else can we do to increase conversions?
There is a strong visual focus on our website. Have you found our site to be slow?

    Cheers,

    Khai

    Well done Khai.

The process of selecting what you need and landing into the checkout without too many hurdles to jump seems to work well.

Packing common requests into a kit package is a smart idea. Busy people don’t always want to over think how many bits and pieces are required. Often you end buying too much the traditional away. Estimation of what is recommended is also very helpful.

    Very nice looking store.

I would definitely find you trustworthy based on the site presentation.

I would also follow that up by looking to see what people are saying bout you on social media. We live in the recommendation economy, these days.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

    Todd

    Hi Khai

Gotta say i enjoyed visiting your site as well.. Easily understood, laid out and showed professionalism with pics etc.. One thing i did notice is that i went through a purchase to see the experience and was a little confused by my shipping options, there appeared to be a second non relevant option for me..

What i mean is, we are metro Melbourne and the options delivered where a standard metro delivery of 2-4 days and then a second option of regional delivery being 4-12 days??? we are certainly not regional and was curious as to why this was on offer? might be something to look into so you dont confuse the buyers and hinder the final click to buy…

    Cheers
    Jason

    ps. well done :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement and feedback so far.

Regarding the shipping, we’d love some advice. Prior to the current rates – it was even more complicated haha. We’d like to simplify it but we’re using the default Shopify shipping settings and can’t differentiate between “City” and “Regional” postcodes and that is why we set up both. Kinda relying on people to be honest and pick the appropriate rates.

We’ve considered just having one rate per state but cannot afford to absorb the regional shipping rates as they are sometimes double, if not triple the rates of the cities. Unfortunately, our products are bulky and low value… We definitely don’t want this to be an obstacle to conversion and so we’ll be thinking of a few solutions to avoid this.

    What would people recommend?

    Hi Khai

No probs, although i must apologise as Shopify is not something i am familiar with although it sounds like you need a more durable (expandable/flexible) shipping plugin to introduce more or less shipping tables? not 100%..

Just, as a buyer it looks a little funny seeing the 2 options.. Pretty sure it will not lose you a sale, but is strange..

Hopefully someone with more Shopify experience will jump in to advise.

    Cheers
    Jason

    Nice work.

    3 things:

    1. Maybe your text needs some expanding on the home page and the link to the Our Story doesn’t seem to be where most people would want to go first up. They need to see some kits!

    2. The video on the kits page maybe could be put somewhere else? When I go the the kits page I really want to see some kits.

    3. Maybe some kits on the home page?

    Cheers
