Hi all, I have made enough money on fiverr.com to think that there might be opportunities to do something similar but on a local level instead of copying all the other clones out there.
I have bought my own licenced clone and built it into a site just for my local area. What do you think of the idea?
Of course as it was only finshed last night I have to do a bit of marketing to get more content but I think it will be a goer.
Cheers,

But isn’t this site a… clone??July 30, 2012 at 10:48 pm #1112836Up::0donkeynomad, post: 125794 wrote:I have bought my own licenced clone and built it into a site just for my local area. My question is, do you think there would be enough demand at a “local” level to warrant investing the time and effort in supporting a site like this? I would guess that it could attract a lot of spam and abuse, and could have a large admin overhead for only supporting a local market.
Also, lots of the example services that are in there at the moment can be delivered from anywhere in the world (e.g., I will pray for you, I will post you jewellery), so unless they are “in-person” services, isn’t it location of the service providers sort of irrelevant?

I like your site. I am a big fan of Fiverr.com and I have used the site on several occasions.
I think your site is a little more like http://www.taskrabbit.com/ If you google taskrabbit, there are a lot of articles about how the woman set it up in her community.
Good luck
July 31, 2012 at 5:45 am #1112838Up::0No being familiar with Fiverr et al, my first impression of the website is not good.
The positions being advertised on the land page, for example “I will pray for you for $5” just reeks of scam.
Even the ones that are trying to sound legit look sus to me.
I dont like it.

All popular sites have clone scripts that mimic the look and feel of the original site but with enough changes that it doesn’t look exactly the same.Unless to copy everything exactly you’re pretty safe.

Learn something new every day. Didn’t know it was a freely available script. Safe as houses in that case.
