    Hi guys,

I did a search for this on the forums and didn’t find a lot.

I would like simple POS software for my small restaurant. I already have all the hardware. The main function I’m after is:

    – export data to excel spreadsheet
    – actually I would like to remotely access the data as well, but if push comes to shove I can use TeamViewer to do this (freeware)

I want to buy the software outright, none of these monthly deals.

Any restaurant/cafe owners out there can share their thoughts/experience?

My budget is about $500 (remember, software only)

    John

There are a couple of responses on Facebook, which you’ll find here.

    Hope that helps,

I know you wanted an outright POS, but thought I would share with you what I use at my store, OpenERP, which is great as it is also an ERP.

I pay $38 per month which includes premium support (and they are based in Australia!!) from this site https://maestrano.com

I would love to know if you do find a good alternative outright though, so please do share what you find :)

Thanks for your answers, especially Jayne.

The best answer I had was from David Moore from the social media shoutout. He recommended “Ambur” which does just what I asked.

However, I think I’ve found an even better solution, and that is “Unicenta oPOS”, which is an open source, 100% free standalone POS which is constantly being updated and supported/maintained around the world by tech nerds a-la linux/wikipedia, etc.

I’ve been playing with it recently (haven’t actually installed it on our main system yet) and so far it seems to be the bomb.

We invite you try our POS software NeoPOS made by our company in Melbourne, one off purchase cost (no ongoing costs) $295.

Download the fully functional demo at http://www.neopos.com.au and give it a try.

    I’ve never used POS software.

But this might be worth a look. Tuxsoft software:
