    Hi folks,

I have a question. We’re a web design and development consultancy in Sydney, and are extremely busy at the minute (which is awesome!).

    Project Management
We’re looking for project management software that will allow us to book/allocate resource/time within our team, so we can help control the workload.

So far we’ve tried various options such as:

    • basecamp
    • Podio
    • Asana (best one so far but only allows individual tasks)
    • Clarizon (which is a bit convoluted)

Is there anyone here who can advise on a paid/free digital solution?

    What do you use?

I’m using Insightly. Works well for my needs, which sound similar to yours. I have also used CopperProject, but the lack of development support / bugs saw me leave after a year. They may have improved.

It may be too basic for your needs, but I use an open source program called Abstract Spoon ToDo List. It’s not cloud based, but works fine across a network – and it’s completely free!

You could also look at swift.

If you’re OK with cloud solutions have a look at http://www.getapp.com – and search for Project Management tools.

    TeamworkPM – Love it!

I can allocate time between team members, my VA’s can allocate time/tasks to their invoices, upload files etc.

There is a calendar that shows when tasks are due, set tasks to repeat and best of all, if you ask a question, it emails it to you, and when you reply, your answer is sitting there in the task!

oh, and you can download an app for it as well

Perhaps this is a little late, but perhaps this can be useful for someone else. I reviewed about ten different traditional project management systems and ended up using a couple different programs. They were fine however I always had the feeling that we spent too much time organizing our stuff rather than working.

Enter Trello, essentially a virtual “sticky note board.” It is simply amazing. It’s super intuitive and easy to use as it took all of 5 minutes to train my staff (which really helps buy in). And you can’t beat the price; it’s free.

I found this video from SEOmoz to be a very good background on the Sticky Note project management concept. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/project-management-tips-for-marketing-teams-whiteboard-friday

Also not only are we using this for project management but it works great for brainstorming, making lists, and organizing training documentation as well.

Try it you won’t regret it.

I use a bunch of different applications for project management in order to deal with the overwhelming amount of work that I have on hand with my consulting career. In addition, I add almost daily, a new tool to Consulting Café. Being the manager of the website, allows me to give people certain advice on what they can use/ should use in order to streamline their daily time/usage of other vehicles.

The link to the tool page is here, let me know if you have any to add. I would be more than happy to add any!

Might be worth having a look at the offerings from Atlassian.

Sydney based company recognised as one of the leaders in the software development support.

Very good value too it seems.
